Default Feeler thread for 08+ Impreza/WRX/STI hatchback aftermarket red taillights

I was talking with dstorm in the 2011-2012 WRX picture thread about petitioning a company such a depo to make aftermarket red taillights for 08+ Impreza hatchbacks so we have a clean, easy bolt on option instead of having to apply overlays or paint our stock lights causing bubbles and fading after time.

The problem with this idea is that aftermarket lights are generally lower quality than OEM lights. Also the price will probably be much higher than paint or overlays.

The point of this thread is just to get an idea of how many people would be interested in something like this and if anyone has any useful input on the subject.

I'm in for this too. As long as they're OEM-ish, but red instead of clear.

Definitely. Something that won't fade or peel off would be sweet.

If definitely be interested, assuming they're the cutout style where the centers are still clear

yeah maybe I should have clarified that. I was thinking red with clear turn signals and reverse lights

same way I originally painted mine and the most common overlay style I think

perhaps a slightly darker red than normal OEM lights but not too dark. Not sure about red lines down the center like this:

I guess there can be a vote or something if there is enough interest

certainly not this style since it turns the reverse lights red

Nah no lines. Just nice and clean
I'm shocked no one's done this yet, probably the single most common mod on these cars

They make 'em clear you want them red, if they made 'em red you'd want them clear.

You know they sell "Lexus" badges and "Objects in mirror may be closer than they appear" mirrors on Yahoo Japan Auctions...

You can say it looks better all you want but modders be wanting to mod like a hammer wants a nail.

I have always kept my tail lights OEM. In fact my celica had aftermarket tails when I got it and I swapped them out for OEM. I just don't want my tails to look like they belong at hot import nights.

This right here it's exactly my take. Kept oem talks on my 3, looked into swapping them for led oem tails but never did. Either way, always liked oem lights. Just don't like how 'chromey' these are

I don't care OEM or aftermarket. I just hate clear/chrome tail lights. That won't change weather they came from the factory with them or not.

This is a good start. Just be sure to spread the word when you see anyone talking about tails. Once we get up into the hundreds, I'll use that as a statistical same to throw to manufacturers.

yes, please.

Just not red-out reverse/turn signal. Obviously, quality is a huge factor. Ive been avoiding vinyl but might just do it anyway. Definitely in.

yeah not bad for a thread a few hours old

quality is the problem though, I think DEPO is better than TYC and APC but people have said the clear coat peels after a while. Apparently depo makes a lot of OEM stuff so idk....we won't really know about the quality until we have them for a few years honestly. I know my celica came with TYC tails and the studs were falling out so I dont really think we should talk to them...
