Default Car probs...

My car was working perfectly earlier this morning then later this afternoon I randomly stepped on it(the gas pedal) I was going to" redline" it and once I got at 4500-5500 rpms the car would "stop" or "struggle" and wouldn't let me go any further till I shifted. Is this a governor or rev limiter ? If so I've never had these kind of problems ever before. I did notice that my car needs new spark plugs, would that interfere with what my problem is? And my car has been idling low lately and feels like it wants to die sometimes. All help would be appreciated thank you.

My car did that when the VSS went bad. If it feels like you're hitting a rev limiter.

Okay, my car recently had similar issues. I'm pro tuned, pushing much more than stock power, and what seems to happen to me (when the same exact symptoms happen to my car) it was just a simple boost leak. Small hose coming from recirculating valve leading to the back side of my manifold had popped off. Happened to pop off a couple more times whenever I'd do a good pull.
Fixed now with hose clamp and no more issues.
Good luck.

Dear OP, this is another one of your thread fails. Please learn to post in the correct section for the best possible help. Without telling us more information, like mods, miles, etc we really can't help you aside from seeing you tried to beat the car a bit.

You were trying to pass someone by redlining your car?? sounds like beating on it to me, also unsafe because you were probably speeding substantially.

I'm pretty sure your phone tells you what section of the forum youre making a thread in as well.

Yes it does. I have both the Android and iOS NASIOC apps. I mean, it doesn't show some profile information but it sure does show you what section you're posting in.

Since when is redlining a STI or WRX beating on it? your car is designed to be driven. Sure you aren't going to pin it every gear and every shift, but if you aren't taking it up to 7k every once in a while you're doing your car an injustice.
My car sees redline every time I drive it. And, it's been solid as a rock driving it like that for 100k miles.

What the hell is "full bolt on's?" That's not a mod list. At last I remember (and this is bad but you make so many bad threads it's easy to remember) You had a TBE and intake. That's not FULL bolt ons.

Thanks for clarifying. I thought you stepped on your car, which, assuming you're a big huge fat guy, would definitely make it "struggle" as you described.

Need. Any codes in the ECM. If none. Can't help. Change plugs, air filter, fuel filter, and run some fuel system cleaner through it. Then get back to us. We'll be here.

How is the car tuned? AP? Pro tuned with open source? No tune at all?

For the moment.....with no heads on your car, there's nothing you can do anyways. Once the heads are on, get the car tuned by someone who knows Subarus well.

I bought it from a guy not knowing what the problem was. It had a skip so i sent the heads out due to a bad valve. The heads are back and the motors in the car fully assembled. Just looking for some advice maybe on what to look for or what to do. I heard that buying a utech ecu would help???? Suggestions?
