Hi everyone,
Just got my first WRX about a week or two ago now. it was pretty stock (wanted the basic mods) has an turboxs Axelback, just swapped a new turbo in yesterday (Murphys law took over there), and it has an injen short ram intake. I'm concerned though the car needs a tune. previous owner never had it tuned and had the car running at 15lbs of boost using a Mbc, but my biggest thing is how much its a tune and where can i have one done, i live west of Rochester,NY. Thanks in advance guys : D

Get it tuned NOW. We can't stress how dangerous it is to run a modded WRX without a tune. That intake will kill you if you don't. You can buy a Cobb Accessport I believe. Try not to drive your car until that ECU is done.

Welcome!

My only problem is i can't Shell out the money for AP. I just did brakes/rotors, s Cv shaft, the turbo, and my power steering rack shows up Wednesday. I'm a Lil broke at the moment. Unless AP v1 would work, i could maybe pick that up for cheap

the problem is you'll need a protune after you get a ap.

get an open-source tuned from STi mikey. this will be not only your cheapest option but simultaneously one of the best because mikey is one of the best tuners the community has. period.

he's on nasioc, look him up.

so you said you have a new turbo, is it stock or something bigger, and you have an MBC. an AP has generic maps on it, to use with all stock stuff and a down pipe and or intake....when you start adding things beyond that the maps it provides no longer apply because these cars are so sensitive to all minor changes.

a pro-tune is a dyno tune by a tuner through using software for the accessport.

opensourced you dont need a AP. the tuner directly reflashed your car.

I replaced the turbo with a stock td04. From the sounds of it, open source would be the best bet, but I'm really just focused on this car lasting, i don't really understand ecu flashing and even if i could data log, its going to be like reading the Chinese side of any directions. Really would just like to have this as a reliable daily

Is Buffalo too far? Innovative Tuning might be another option.
