Default COM Track Day and Time Trial - NHMS Sat Oct 13 - Sun Oct 14

Who's in? Who's out?

Reg closes Sept 29th. This event fills up fast.

www.comscc.org

For you guys that have never done a track day - this is a great event and club to get started with. COM offers a $100 discount on your first event with them. They have great instructors, offer plenty of seat time, and add a little friendly competition with a time trail at the end of the second day. Don't hesitate to PM me or post in this thread if you have any questions about signing up or what it takes to get ready for your first event.

I'm really tempted. I'd love to squeeze another one in this year.

I want to run this event. Gotta look at logistics on my end, though. October is ridiculous.

So as a first event, how much would the weekend cost?

What track-specific items are necessary, if someone is bringing a "daily driver"?

I would recommend a good set of track pads for the front and some fresh brake fluid. Any high performance street tire will be fine. Nothing else needed as far as car prep goes for your first event. Just clean everything out, make sure the car is safe, and has some fresh oil.

You'll need to pay for entry fees $425 for the two days or $225 for Sat only and your annual dues of $35. You'll get $100 discount if you've never done a COM event before. So $360 for two days, or $160 for just Sat total. Camp for free or get a cheap hotel and split it. Add in the track pads, fluid, and gas, (you'll go through 3-4 gallons in a 20 min session x4 sessions a day x2 days @ $4/gal is over $100 in track fuel).

Weekend cost for a first timer would be the cost of both days, plus club annual dues, minus $100. If you dont get signed off as Safe to Solo after Saturday you have to request a refund for Sunday.

I know you do the ADSI days, what do you have for tires and brakes?

If you have a good 93 octane tune (meaning you don't need to spike your fuel with race fuel like I do), 93 octane is available at the Shell right outside the track gates at pump rates. Expect 3-4 gallons per session, depending on how much you use the loud pedal.

Fresh brake fluid and oil, I'm assuming you already do that for ADSI.

Unlike ADSI, COM REQUIRES a helmet. SNELL SA2005 or newer. We don't just wear helmets because our moms make us. Their insurance and the track requires it.

The Shell station does not have 93. You have to go to the station across the street to get 93.

New information, they do. The station changed hands this year.

According to the new owner, when she went through the purchasing records shortly after they bought the station, she found out they were buying 93 octane, however, their pumps were listed as selling 91 octane. The pumps now show 93 octane, which, based on the records, theyve always had.

The Subaru radiator has been replaced with an all Aluminum radiator, and I will probably change the radiator on the race car to an all aluminum one on the race car before I run it. I have also plugged the fans on the Subaru in, which I'm sure contributed to my coolant leak happening when it did.

A case of High Life says you're not going to beat all the Miatas.

Nice! You've got a lot of competition in SPB. Bring a set of A6's and take the fight to Chad and Chris.

Watch some film while looking at the map and you'll get a whole lot more out of your first session on track.
