I got rained out yesterday, but found an NARRA event at Watkins Glen so I'm here now running the car. I'm down at 14 psi to get into TT2, but ran a new best lap time for me in my first session. Hopefully the engine continues holding up and I keep getting better at driving.

I beat my personal best by 8 seconds today. The car is still new to me and I've never driven a car this quick on a road course so I'm picking up piles of time each time I go to the track. Ran 2:06.2 on 14 psi of boost which is very promising for the future since we have a lot more to do on the car and I have a lot of power being held in reserve.

Ran 2:05.5 Sunday (still at 14 psi of boost). I had 3 go pros going and I'll work on video ASAP. I found this event Friday and had no time to plan so I went alone which meant no hot tire temp/pressure checking. I've never used the tires either so I just took a shot in the dark on cold pressures. We haven't touched the suspension settings either and I know I can go faster in some spots on the track. With some tweaking I'll only get quicker. Then the boost goes up.

Here's a shot a customer took of me hounding a Viper Cup race car.

That is a cool picture! For some reason it looks like a scale model. Probably taken from far perspective of course.

Yup he was high up on a grandstand.

We just tested the engine. I was doing 6th gear down the back straight this time, but more importantly I forgot to turn my water to air pump on after a warmup lap, then ran a hot lap with the pump off. I can trigger the pump automatically or turn it on before going on track, but I had ice in my ice box for that session so I didn't want to melt it before my hot lap so I have been turning it on manually.

IATs got totally out of hand, which is most likely the cause of the test results we just got. The engine runs fine, but cylinder 4 is up to 15% leak down through the crankcase and a little out the exhaust valves. The other cylinders range from 3% to 10%. I'm not surprised. All it takes is something not being right for brief period of time. IATs were over 200 degrees as I finished the lap. It's totally my fault. I was so focused on my spacing to the car in front and getting heat into my tires that I forgot. I have my ECU set up to pull timing progressively as IATs get higher, but that can only do so much.

If the drag strip is actually open Friday we'll run it like this. We've been rained out or they've decided not to operate the drag strip due to low turnout the last few times we've tried to go, but I still want to give that a shot.

I posted the leakdown results above.

My computer is exporting video and I'm about to tune a car. I'll get it uploaded later.

I was told the drag strip is open tomorrow so I'm going. I'm going to run the road course at TMP first to see what I can do with the new setup, then go down the strip later.

Serious rainstorm coming. I'm having terrible luck trying to get this car to a drag strip. I'll be at SEMA next week so that's out.

Edit: The track cancelled for tonight and all the other tracks within a couple hours that I know of have closed for the season. If anyone knows a track that will be open after next week and isn't real far away please let me know.

Sucks's for the problem man. I kinda feel your pain as my fuel pump is pretty much dead under any boost. I've previously seen 12 afr on 21psi pump gas bouncing fuel pressure when it goes lean. Thank god for sleeves! and a wideband to tell this dummy to lift lol I haven't been boosting it lately just putting around doing my errands as it's my DD.

Did you try Englishtown? Or Lebanon valley?

TMP (Cayuga) usually stays open untill the end of november up here.
It all depends on the mood of the owner that day. Last year in November there where a couple nice days on the weekend that he could have been open but not enough cars showed up so they went home. Not really reliable.

I haven't looked at tracks that far away yet. When I get back from the SEMA show I'll look at my options.

nice video and nice driving. Looking great, should be pretty stout once you put some real power in it. Goes to show how seat time helps.

The engine is still good, but all the tracks around here are closed for the season. I really wanted to see what it could do at the drag strip, but the one track that's "open" for limited hours waited until last Friday to say they weren't going to run the strip Saturday. Now we've got Thanksgiving and it's supposed to snow so I think I'm out of luck for this season. Part of me wants to leave the stock shortblock in so I can take it down the strip in the spring, but that doesn't give us much time if it leads to smacking a head. I'll ponder this over the next few months.

I look forward to tuning your car when it's ready!

Yeah man that sucks all the tracks are closed, weathers been real nice. I will definitely get a hold of you about some details when i get closer. Its looking like summer time for the car to be running. That is only 6 months away, but whos counting when it hasnt run since 2009.
