With new hardware and spacers we made the brakes work.

Could you offer a little more info on such a system. Is it a shop built system or an aftermarket kit you can pick up somewhere?

I'll admit i have a heavy foot and the next build will address oiling issues.
Woudl you recommend an ACCUSUMP system of some sort?

We can build a similar setup for a customer car with the car here, but couldn't supply a kit. I chose components from a number of companies and my techs made custom brackets, lines etc. etc. It's a lot of custom work and every install will be different.

A 3 quart Accusump can buy you a few seconds which is enough for some cars, but for this car a solution that would prevent oil pickup issues rather than bandaiding them was required.

I just called the track and they won't be running all weekend because the track is wet now. Lazy bums. 0% chance of rain Sunday, but they know they'll only have a couple cars show up so they don't want to prep the track.

We didn't have time to get the new diff in and I want to wire the DCCD back up so I can map it with my ECU so we'll work on that and hopefully the track will be open next week.

The other local 1/4 mile has its opening weekend next weekend so that increases the chances we'll be able to run too.

I've never used anything other than basic ARPs and I've never blown a head gasket on any of the Subarus I've tuned. Of course at some point there's a limit to them, but I haven't found it. I've run 33 psi on several engines, 36-37 psi on one, 44 for a short period of time on one of my old beaters (head gaskets were fine, stock rod failed).

I may try something bigger at some point this year on this car with a built engine for testing purposes, but honestly I'm still on the fence about it since I've never had an issue.

exactly!! thats my philosophy anyways!! but you know i used stock headbolts forever at 24/25 psi on 93 and 500 whp and never had issues. i think the tune is vital to keeping things together

The track was finally open today. The stock shortblock world records have been broken and I didn't hurt the engine.

I can picture all the emails already

"You need pistons, rods, etc for that power level"

"But innovative went 9's on the stock block"

Yep

Gotta be a reason why some people can go fast on stock engines ( for more then 1 pass ) and others break stg2 cars more often then not.

While I wouldn't go as far as saying you don't need a bottom end for 9s, I've always said you can def go fast with the stock motor reliably.
