While I wouldn't go as far as saying you don't need a bottom end for 9s, I've always said you can def go fast with the stock motor reliably.

Thanks guys! JR I'm keeping this shortblock. We'll bag it up for after time attack season or it will be a good spare.

I'll be the first to say I don't recommend this. I just did it because I knew we could.

I'll be running built engines this year for time attack and maybe I'll take the car back to the strip on a built engine for fun.

I never ran it over 21 psi on the dyno so I don't know, but I was picking up a lot of power with each pound of boost.

I just looked at the logs now so I have some more info. It was 22-24 psi for most of the pass with some spikes over that. 21 psi was 521 wheel hp. 24 is probably 570 and the spikes over were probably 600 ish. It makes about 400 wheel HP on 14 psi for reference.

As have many others. What this shows is how good a tuner is Mike.

I agree!

It's a little off topic but I've been driving Subaru's at various track events since 2006. Mike has tuned all four of my turbo Subarus. My 06 STi was a road course whore for two years. It was stage two and did not have proper oil cooling or spark plug changes. He tuned my mechanically stock 08 STi which did see occasional track time, my hybrid 04 WRX and my current 2005 STi track whore. The 05 is has forged pistons a 35R and is over 400 whp. None of the cars have had engine issues, or piston damage of any kind.
