1997 Legacy GT White smoke

So, i aquired a 1997 Subary Legacy 2.5 GT From my late fater in law. It runs well but has high miles.

He was a well respected Subaru Mechanic in town and this was his DD.

However, now that it's in my care it got a little attention. I removed the police scanners and GPS Systems from it so I can sell it. When i drove it the other day to get gas i noticed a little white smoke comming from under the car. I looked and saw white smoke coming from the top of one of, what i believe, is the exhaust manifold.

It's wrapped in heat sheild so i can't tell if there's some form of fluid under the heat sheild. I jacked the car up yesterday and let it get hot till it smoked again and I just can't tell any reason it would be doing that.

Any ideas?

Sounds like coolant is dripping down, and when the exhaust gets hot it boils off the coolant.
