Default Litigation Attorney

Does anyone have a recommendation or acquaintance that is an Attorney?

Back-story: I'm currently a customer for monthly parking in Manhattan but prior to Sandy the main gate was shuttered and there was no way to remove my vehicle. Once the surge hit NYC, the parking lot was flooded ceiling high and everything was lost.

Cliff notes: Parking lot shuttered, couldn't get car out, garage flooded, cars lost, stuck in Manhattan during power outage, 30+ people want to sue as a group.

thanks,
gin

Why wouldn't you go through the respective insurance companies.

I personally am going through the motions with the insurance companies but I'm looking for options for the others.

I am an attorney. I have worked on both sides of the table, representing insurance companies and suing insurance companies. Your best bet is to go through your insurance company first. If you don't have insurance then you would file a claim with the garage's insurance company.

Do any of these 30 people not have insurance? Has the garage owner or manager said anything?

^i'm with canary. before you go to your own attorney you should have your insurance company represent you on this behalf.

or are you trying to get insurance to cover your car and THEN file a separate suit for damages against the garage with the rest of these people? if not then your insurance should be the ones that are going after the garage.

I agree with the both of you and I'm letting the insurance company deal with it on my end. As for the others, I've learned that a few only have liability and are pretty much SOL.

I wanted to see if there are any options for them besides suing.
