Ok, so I bought this car with about 174k miles. It had a knocking noise when I bought it, it turned out being one of the idlers. My mechanic fixed it, and changed the timing belt. I added about 3k miles to it so far, had fun with it. After a long drive, it began making a rattling/scraping noise. I cant figure out what it is. The sound comes from the right camshaft area. Let me know what you guys think it could be. Thanks in advance.

![]() It looks like it could be an idler that is damaged. The timing belt was changed not to long ago. Found this chip in my timing belt. |

I can't tell from the vid but it sounds bad. Take it to your mechanic or bring it by here and I will tell you what it is.

Im thinking about just getting a timing belt kit and change all the idlers and belt.

UPDATE: I got a timing belt kit and changed everything. At first, everything sounded good, but after letting the car sit for a while, the sound returned. This time however it sounds a bit lower and periodical depending on acceleration, and seems to go away when the car is hot. I convinced myself that it is just one of those random Subaru noises since it seems to go away after driving.

How is the alternator barring. My car sounded like that and went away after it warmed up. My issue was the alt barring . Take the alt belt off and spin it

UPDATE: So its been a few days, and seems like the sound has gone away. Don't really know for sure what it was, but the car sounds better now, and running good.
