Default Bouncing_Soulz's finally got his STi vBuildThread

So! I actually got the sti a couple months ago. However as I start to gather parts to start the fun I figured I'd put together a build thread to document the car.

SO First! I saw the STi on the website of Hendrick Dodge in Cary, NC. So I had to go check it out.

I was blown away. A totally unmolested 05' STi with 43,950 miles on it!

So... the day after looking at it... I bought it I traded in my 2007 Honda Civic Si.

Here is the spedo after I got home, as well as the first couple pics when I got hom.

Let the money spending start!!!!

First! I had to protect my new investment.

California Car Cover's Superweave Car Cover. This is an AMAZING cover. I would HIGHLY recomend it. The water just beads and falls right off this cover, and it fits like a glove.

Next... I decided to de-badge her.

Then I got myself some good rubber-

Dunlap Star Spec 245/40/17

Next... It's time to play with the suspension-

-Feal revalved struts for Tarmac use.
-RCE Blacks
-Whiteline RCA kit
-Whiteline ALK kit

I hope to be installing everything tomorrow

AND That's where it stops for now. I'll add more pictures after the suspension gets put on tomorrow.

They look flush, they feel great, I've already auto crossed on them once and didn't get any sidewall roll. I've heard people going As wide as 255 on the stock wheel and being OK. I figured I'd play it safe though and stick with the 245s.

Installing the rce blacks and feal struts

Didn't get to the ALK or the RCA kits last night. Kept finding that I was missing tools. That's what happens when you combine your tool kits with friends, then try and re-separate them... things get lost in translation. hah!

I'll post more pictures up this weekend once the new struts settle and the car sits properly. Right now I would say that it's about 1/2 inch lower than factory ride height. (which is great IMO) I suspect that the car will settle and up being upwards of about an inch drop total.

Going stage 2 tonight!

Getting a cobb catted downpipe + cobb catback + a subisam tune. Still haven't had the time to do the ALK and RCA kit. I just got the RCE lowering camber plates also.

Would love to get the suspension work done... but I just wont have time to take it to get aligned before the dragon trip. I'll only have time to work on the car at night.

oh yah... already have a k&n drop in. I'll de-snorkle the car with the k&n and be OK for the stage 2 maps.

do what?

Finally got eveything in... a bolt stripped off the stud on the turbo. Had to take a oxy torch to the turbo and some vice grips to the stud to get it off.

Anyway... what took 2 days should have only taken one evening. Doh. It is what it is...

Anyway- couple pics from last night...

using the fastblueufo stage 2 base-map, subisam is helping me tweak the tune so it's just right for what I have so far! Did a couple revisions last night. Car feels great right out of the box with this tune, but I am sure after playing with it some... it will be awesome-sauce.

got 2 Perrin wing stiffs in exchange for some computer work.

Installed them last night as well as removed the trailor hitch. The new exhaust was rattling against the hitch. Will post some pics tonight once there is more light!

Finally got to working on the car again. It's been over a month! *sigh*

oh well!

Bought some RCE lowering camber plates a while back and just got to installing them.

These are the Version one lowering camber plates, so they are a couple years old but they were never actually installed so they are still brand new! (plus I couldnt pass up the deal )

Looks much more level! I'll get some good pictures this weekend that shows how much it actually leveled the car.

I also got some SS lines and ATE Super Blue to be installed at a later date

woot!

that is all for now.

Your brakes are squeaking? or the calipers are creaking?

Haha it's all good, I actually like taking my time with this. There is no rush. There is no real hard driving that will take place till the next dragon trip/ auto-x, neither of which will be for at least a few months.

PS- Thanks as always for the help!!
