105mi@40mph=~2.5hrs long, but not that long. But, if you get to the bottom and then turn around and drive straight back up it at 35-45 mph it could be a long day. How has it worked in previous years? I was just planning on heading back east/home from the bottom.

What we do on other cruises is start with the front royal entrance and ride down to Big meadows picnic area. It's only about a 1:30hrs drive with stops. Afterwards people part there ways.
I say we make this as organized as possible. If people want food then we can get everyone to pitch in $10. I actually just got home from skyline after a cruise with 8thcivic.com Was a complete blast!!! |

I was on beautiful scenic roads curving around snow-capped mountains the other day...in Kunar, Afghanistan, in an MRAP, hoping for no IED's. FML
Can't wait to be home and drive my subi again. Enjoy this cruise for me! I'll be on the next one. |

In the past, we have grilled out at the camp site but honestly its more trouble IMO unless everyone brings what they say they are going to bring. There is usually 5 or so people that dont bring what they said or they dont bring enough and then people are either still hungry or some people doesnt get a chance to eat. I say everyone just takes food along for thereselves or they get a big meal before they go. This lets us just focus on the cruise, pics and socializing. Just my .02

Plus there is always someone who throws down $3 on plastic forks/spoons and feels just as enitled to chow down as the guy who dropped $15 on hamburgers/salad/sodas... Coleslaw isn't cheap when you're bringing enough to feed 20 dudes! Last edited by Detslider; 10-17-2012 at 08:50 AM. |

Yeah so lets just all fend for ourselves and eat before you show up and bring snacks for the ride. A lot less stress

So no bbq at the end I'm guessing. I'm willing to throw down for food if we do end up bbq.

I plan on packing my own lunch/snacks, however if people want to bbq, I'm happy to chuck a bag of charcoal in the boot and hang out.
If it gets used that day, cool, if not, I can always burn it later at home. I'm content either way. |

Hi, new here! This sounds like an excellent chance to meet some of you! The wife and I are off work and we will see you there plus one child. Those coming in from the east on 66 can take Exit 13 rather than the Front Royal exit and follow 55 into Front Royal, the speed limit is 55 and has no lights. Food Lion is pretty much the first thing you come to upon entering the town, it's on the left. Much easier than navigating from one end of the town to the other needlessly.
