Default 2012 2.0i Fuel Filter

Looks like I need to replace the Fuel Filter at 60k. I'm having trouble finding out what the part number is for this.

I get stock codes of: 42072AJ060 ; 42072SC000
on Subaru Parts, but am having trouble believing that a new filter is $90. Is it just a simple strainer? RockAuto has an $8 strainer, I just don't know if this is the same thing.

The thing is integrated into the tank. It's almost not a do it yourself project from the looks of the service manual...

why do you need to?

i posted it a while back, probably in the gigantic thread. but to replace the strainer there is more than just the 8.00 part. there are additional parts that require replacement according to the service manual which you cannot buy outside of buying the entire assembly (over 300.00 IIRC) from my research on subarus in general when you need to replace the filter on the same style as our cars you just drop in a whole new unit and not even bother because it isn't worth the hassle and it is good preventative maintenance for the pump

in fact with the strainer design, i don't know how it could clog as all the garbage just stays in the tank. the only real problem would be a pump failure IMHO

I want to change it because the manual says the maintenance interval is 60k miles.

That being said, I think I'll just open up the tank and take a look to see if I should change it. Preventive maintenance is important to me, but I may just put off the whole assembly replacement until 75k miles or something instead.
