Thumbs up Subaru Press Release of Sports Car Architecture (from Geneva show)

Images from http://www.ft86club.com/?p=409

I'm REALLY hoping that that's just a random body they used to showoff the engine.

It's not the body that worries me. It appears that the transmission doesn't have a front diff...it must be the first new Subaru Transmission in 50 years!

*sigh* Who am I kidding? It's probably the same old 5 speed without holes drilled for the front axles...

That engine doesn't appear to sit as far back in the chassis as I thought it would. In fact it appears to be sitting directly over the front suspension. Not sure what that means in terms of a possible AWD application?

I thought Subaru confirmed this will be a RWD and not AWD car?

The shape of the FT86 II concept looks SO much better But I bet it won't perform nearly as well as the Subaru version.

They've confirmed RWD for sure; but have not commented (officially) on AWD, although SOA Blog indicated that RWD is desirable for this type of car. So as far as I'm concerned, it's still an open question. However, looking at these images has me wondering if AWD is possible. At this point, I just don't know...

Default Nothing new

Reminds me a bit of the old Opel GT from 1970.

How can they call it RWD and AWD in the same paragraph?

What moron wrote that? Pretty big/important show to make such a blatant errors.

That article also claims there are front driveshafts on the car: "As though the driveshaft weren’t enough". Am I the only one who can't see them?

What are these people smoking?

So THAT's how they will keep the weight low, plexiglass body panels. Looks like Wonder Woman is trading in her invisible plane for the Subayota coupe

It says rear wheel drive concept but then goes on to say the new platform incorporates Subaru's symmetrical AWD system. Talk about confusing.

This display is the smaller scaled down version. I bet the full-size display features the RWD version, and the smaller model (with this AWD text) shows the AWD version.

Are they looking at the same pictures? Where are the front shafts?

The same text says it's RWD incorporating AWD. I don't care if they have two models showing different things. They should be embarrassed. Even if they meant to say concept originally RWD, now incorporating AWD, that is not apparent and it simply reads like it was written by someone with no idea what they are talking about.

It does say the concept is rwd but says the platform is AWD which can mean cars built off the platform will be AWD.

I agree the wording is confusing. I wonder why they would even show a small mockup, if it weren't different. That photo of the smaller model does suggest front driveshafts.

I hope we get more images of that small display, as that would clear things up.

Reading comprehension anyone? It says it incorporates the AWD system to make this RWD. All that means is they took their old parts and converted to RWD. There's nothing confusing about that. Jeez get your heads out of your asses....

And judging by the the fact that the wheels are aligned with the bell housing I highly doubt there's any application for AWD in the future.

This also screams for a front mount reverse intake turbo with twinscroll now that there's soo much room between the engine and front bumper. I can't wait

Are you kidding?

It says it "incorporates Subaru's symetric AWD system." Note the period.

It in no way, shape, or form states that it incorporates the AWD system TO MAKE IT RWD.

If you're reading that, you need to head on back to school.

Umm that's not a period...

You all are just interpreting this wrong cause you want to. Get over it, old news it's not AWD. Don't like it, stop bitching and get a GC8 for 5g. Dump another 10g and make it more awesome then this car could ever be and ****.

Edit: STF-U is censored and bitching isn't?

...maybe subaru will offer both options, if not and you really want RWD, then get the toyota

did anyone stop to think that maybe Subaru is finally giving us what we've been asking for? (read: 2.5RS)
