Back in October my decently modified '04 Evo was rear ended by a 6,000lb Ford F-250 and was totalled. Bought it back from the insurance company for a whopping $1,700 which was a STEAL since it is functionally perfect (except the trunk/bumper/body panels of course). I plan to fix it but in the mean time I wanted a new toy, so I decided to order myself a Dark Grey Metallic 5-door STi. Took JUST about forever to get here (ordered October 29th) but I finally took delivery of it a couple weeks ago and just put gas in her for the second time yesterday. Now I just have to wait for the break-in period to be over and change the oil and I can stop being so gentle with her.

So basically I just wanted to say hey and use this as an upgrade journal of sorts. Not thinking anything NEAR what I did with Eve but still wanna play with her a little. Any initial mods anyone recommends? Maybe things to make the everyday driving experience a little better...

Pretty sure I'll be doing a short shifter and shifter bushings but I'm not sure what brand to go with... Anyone have rec's?

Also think I'll be doing LED exterior and interior lights. I've already tinted the windows at 15% all around because it's hot as BALLS in Texas. Kinda wish I'd gone darker. Also thinking about picking up a used underseat sub from someone on here to make the stereo suck a little less.

I'm posting this from an iPad so I'll have to throw up pictures of my Evo and the new toy when I get back home.

Here's my god daughter and niece getting a little "seat time"!

And here's Eve (pardon how dirty she is... Kinda hard to wash a car that has a buncha holes in the trunk from being crunched...)

Sorry to hear about Eve getting smashed...but welcome to the club. I'm sure you are not new to fourms so you know about seeing thru the a-holes to find the good information.

Sorry and congrats. I recommend a good set of led reverse lights. I can't tell you how many times its helped locate the curb, misc objects, etc. I wish I would have gone with the Sti 5 door. I honestly didn't know the Sti came in the hatch version when I bought mine. Welcome to the DGM club

Thanks for the recommendation! I put em (and the rest of the tail lights) on Eve because I tinted the tails and they could barely be seen. Think I want to tint the tails on the STi (which I'm still looking for a name for...) but I may just do vinyl overlays instead.

The STi coming in a hatch is actually the main reason I bought this over the new Evo (or something else). Throwing my two LARGE Australian Shepherds in the back of Eve wasn't exactly comfortable for them... I wish someone made an all weather floor mat that fit the cargo area of the STi when the back seats were laid down... My dogs shed like champs and that would make cleanup a LOT easier.

You may be right. Although the STi is dark grey and the Evo is silver...

Congrats on the STi! I always wanted either an Evo or STi, but they are priced out of my range so I went with a WRX wagon instead and then to my current Forester XT. I do enjoy the extra trunk space, however.

My suggestion for first modification would be a Killer B Motorsports oil pickup tube. See this thread for details, or contact this vendor for details.

That's funny... So far my biggest complaint is that it doesn't drive like Eve... But she did have full bad A$$ coilovers/rear sway bar/detached front sway bar/strut tower bars/a Croxx plate from Works to stiffen the chassis further/and crazy lightweight (14.2lb) wheels so it's kinda like comparing apples to oranges...

You're probably going to want an OTS stage 1 map for the time being

Sorry to hear about your Evo, but nice pick up! Look into the Kartboy SSK with front and rear bushings. Just installed mine and it feels great!

Congrats. Before my STi, I had an 03 evo with all the supporting mods making 421HP/454TQ on E85/ix turbo. It was a fun car but I had to sell to buy my house.

Sorry and Congrats too. But if that picture of the evo is after the wreck, then thats not too bad at all for what you paid the ins company.
Like scooby said, Kartboy ss with bushings kit is the way to go. Theres alot of vendors on here that sell them at good prices.
And theres a few that sell sways/ends/bushings for good deals too, so you can get your handling even better than eve.

I was thinking about that one or the Cobb tuning short shifter. Didn't see any specs on the kartboy site as far as shifter height or throw reduction... Anyone know where I can find those specs?

That is indeed after the wreck. Still 100% driveable. I'll see if I can find a picture of the back end where the damage was.

Couple questions... Anyone here NOT drive in Sport Sharp 100% of the time? Just so I'd know the difference I drove it in "Intelligent" mode for the first tank of gas (24.8mpg but about 16 of those miles were the dealers and not mine). Drove the second thank of gas in "Sport" mode (25.7mpg) and felt a decent difference. This third tank of gas has been in "Sport Sharp" mode (when I remember... Any way to force it to start in sport sharp mode every time? Or any reason not to?) and so far I've noticed a huge difference...

What kinda gas mileage do you guys get? (Not that I care as Eve Got about 18-19mpg because the pedal on the right is so much fun)
