Default tpms question

about to swap my 17" wheels with 16" wheels from an '08 forester. would a 2011 outback and 2008 forester have interchangeable tpms modules? where are they located? if not possible how much is it to reprogram sensors?

anyone? i can get brand new steel wheels from tire rack for $59 a piece and i might just do that when these tires wear out and then change to 16" wheels and put the tpms sensors in there. is it expensive to reprogram tpms sensors?

TPMS sensors are universal, AFAIK. You can buy a new set, or swap them from your stock wheels. They are located inside the tire in the rim. It's basically replaces the valve stem. To get them reprogrammed, go to your dealer, or any local tire shop in your area. They will charge somewhere between $25-$50 I would say just to reprogram.
