Hi guys,

Ive asked something similar to this before, but I just want to make sure

Im planning on getting a Set of components for the front. They are rated at 75wRMS-Nominal, Max power:150w.

I am planning on getting a 2ch amp rated at 100wRMSx2 @ 4 ohms, will this amp be ok for the components? or is this considered overpowering? Will 50W x 2 work better? I cant seem to find a 2x75w amp.

No problem what-so-ever. Normally, overpowering is fine. Just turn down the gain. Noise/distortion is what kills speakers from my experience. Underpowered speakers get turned up more(hence more noise) and are destroyed. Over-powered speakers usually have a lower gain at the amp, and volume level isn't pushed as high at the source, so they tend to get a cleaner signal, and last longer. Again, my experience. I had a friend who used to run in excess of 200 Watts RMS to each driver in his car(some only rated for about 75RMS. He had the gains properly adjusted, and didn't listen to the music extremely loud. Sounded great at low volumes, extremely full. Had this setup for about 4 years with no problems. I know he's still using the same rear speakers(rest were replaced when new car arrived). You can never have too much power(within reason, of course).
