My dongle broke... The mini usb port came off the board itself. I have a tatrix cable(obd2-usb) and when i plugged that into the accessport it doesn't turn on. So is the cobb dongle the only thing that powers the accessport itself? Has anyone found an alternative?

I really dont want wanna buy a new one

When you contacted Cobb, did you ask them? (It does not appear so.)
When they tell you, "No other cable works with the AP," will you believe them?

You can try soldering the mini-usb port back on the board, or get a friend/ electric repair shop to do it if you are not comfortable. Probalby cheaper than a new cable, if that is the only problem.

Cable is not the problem. The Dongle is.... I've tried different cables(along with the cobb) and different obd2 ports and tatrix cables. None of them worked.

Cobb really disappointed me when they said they wouldn't fix it, I'd have to buy a new one. I'm gonna solder it myself I guess. If that doesn't work I guess I'll have no choice but buy a new one.

I guess the board inside the Dongle is the only thing that can power the access port itself

The AP powers up when you plug it into your computer with any USB cable. To connect to the ECU, only the Cobb dongle will work with the AP.

I just had this problem. I chose to send in my accessport and have Cobb update it to the v 2b hardware. No more dongle to break. The service was $100 not including shipping and it only took them a day to have it fixed and sent back out, and yes it does suck having to pay to fix your expensive accessport.

Cobb just dissapoints me... Its the 2nd thing i bought from cobb that has failed. It wasnt like i didnt take car of the dongle or cable and just threw them around. I made sure they were always handled with care and this still happend.

Oh well life rolls on il do the upgrade.
