Default 5mm smaller diameter tires - is this a problem

Car calls for 205 55 16s. Have a set of 205 50 16s, and was wondering if this will look odd, or if there will be any issues.

DOesnt seem like its much of a difference. THanks

It's not 5mm smaller in diameter, it's 5% of 205mm shorter sidewall height, so more like 20mm change in diameter. According to a googled tire size calculator, that's a 3.2% change (somewhat substantial). Your speedometer would be 61.9 mph at an an actual 60 mph. As to whether this would create any problems beyond an incorrect speedometer/odometer, someone with more technically knowledge than me would have to say. But keep in mind for every 1000 miles you drove, your odometer would tally an extra 32 miles.

some prefer the shorter gearing and that size is actually the stock size in every other market
