1991 Loyale stuck between gears

I need help bad!!! I was driving my loyale the other day and it got stuck between 4th and 5th. It acts like its in fouth but i cant get it to change. Any advice?

Does the shifter move at all, does it go thru the gears?
Need more info to figure out if its a linkage problem or trans problem.

The shifter will move side to side and some forward movement (its like slop in the linkage) but it will not go thru the gears. The clutch works bc i can press it and crank the car.

Any ideas. I really want to fix my car but dont know which way to go.

You will need to get under the car and look at the linkage to see whats binding up. Also try rocking the car back and forth to see if you can get it to shift gears. Does this have the pushbutton 4WD?

Yes its push button 4-wheel drive. Nothing looks bound up with the linkage.
