Default Average cam install labor cost.

Just wondering, anyone around NC get cams installed? If so, how much did the shop charge for labor?

depends on the duration & lift of the cams.
if the lift of the cams are greater than the current cams you
will need valve lash adjustment and that will cost you more cash.

Boxer4racing or 42 Motorsports

the install can be done without pulling the motor. but not for unexperienced.
most shop will pull the motor. its almost the same as 100k service, timing belt, tensioner, idler plus
pulling cam sprockets & valve covers.

Cam install is obviously engine out, so you have labor for that, plus labor for adjustments and measuring buckets etc like jax said. There is way more to it than just a simple question of how much it costs to "install cams". Consider the condition of the car with The modifications. parts being used and changes needed affect this as well. Most shops won't take a car and just "install cams" and let it leave in ****ty or a "less than their standards" condition. Any reputable shop will do the best job possible to make sure the car leaves in good running condition. Especially if you have a giant clusterf*ck mess and other things need to be addressed in order for it to be correct. You'd be surprised how much that happens.

This is just for stock intake cams being swapped out for another set of stock intake cams.

I understand that shops want to make sure cars leave their shop in the best condition, but I just want a specific service...nothing more, nothing less. Time is my biggest constraint so I only go to shops for larger tasks(the swap itself was done by another shop btw), otherwise I prefer to do the work myself.
