Ordered a 15FXT Premium tonight. 26500. I think for that price there is very little that compares.

Damn! For that price I might have to look into it if I ever move on from the BRZ. I paid $29.5k for a slow, RWD coupe!

Great deal. I like the revised packaging they did for the FXT for 2015.

Wait... I thought EyeSight was mandatory on the Touring (obviously not if you have a Touring without it)? Or am I confusing the packages, like, to get HIDs on the Touring you have to get EyeSight as well? Please refresh my memory. Thanks.

2014 Touring came with Nav. Eyesight + Keyless access + HIDs + Push button start was a bundled package for $2000-ish on the touring only

2015 Touring comes with Keyless access + HIDs. Nav + Eyesight is packaed together as an option around $1,300.

That makes the XT Limited Touring much more attractive. I like the new blue as well.

Tell you what, Subaru.. build an XT Limited with a manual trans and the Khaki Beige and I'll seriously consider one.

Yes, if it's a 2014, which came with nav, but eyesight + HIDs + push button was an option.

Got it. So Dasanii doesn't have HIDs and such that most people would want, except EyeSight. Thanks for clarifying. I think the packages are more reasonable for MY2015. I'm not sure if I'd ever end up back in a Forester, but who knows. A lot of my friends really miss my 2008 FXT. It was the most reasonable car I owned. Best price used, best condition, no issues whatsoever.

Is $1700 off invoice on a 14' a decent deal? What are people getting off on the 2014's?

Since I ordered and full pricing/financing is not out on the 15's yet, it is not the OTD price (probably closer to 29k OTD). I did not want a '14 since you cannot get the AWP on the premium. I just kept it bare bones. No options, but I am going to add auto start. Just wanted to keep it cheap. I consider this my OLD MANS PSEUDO WRX. LOL Thought really hard about bagging one of the last Wagon WRX's on the lot, but just wanted the extra room. I actually liked the CVT, lol. Age happens.

I'm curious, what exactly does the "L" position do in Forester models with the CVT?

Does it mimic only one gear, or does it vary the transmissions ratio within a low range of "gears"? If it does vary the transmission ratio when in "L", does it also change the programming of the shifting, delaying shifting up when accelerating, and shifting down sooner when slowing down or when the brakes are applied?

Anybody get a chance to use the "L" setting in hilly terrain or tight twisty roads ? How did it go? Bottom line: Is the "L" setting useful?

The "L" setting can be used at any reasonable speed. It acts like the CVT normally does in "D" but like it had a lower rear gear. In other words, it puts the CVT in a "low range."

I've used it as an engine brake mostly, on hills for extra control of speed going downhill, and on the street to get better granularity from the throttle. The snow we've had hasn't warranted any special driving, at only four or five inches at a time, but I suspect "L" is a good choice for better control in bad conditions like deep snow.

You won't hurt anything if you use it. So experiment and see what uses you can find.

You can definitely do better when dealers start to get more '15. Maybe a few weeks from now.

That's if there will be any left. We got almost 2 truck loads of Foresters Thursday. 12 Foresters. We are down to 3. His deal is a good one and he should quit waiting. Unless, that is, he'd rather have a '15.

We're down to our last two 2014's, only have on 2015 scheduled to arrive before mid-April. Total national supply of Foresters on the dealer lots is only ~2 weeks, half of which is probably pre-sold waiting for delivery. $1700 below invoice is a great deal. Waiting for the 15's in hopes of a better deal on a '14 is a gamble that's not likely to pay off. In many places, the 14's will be gone before the first '15 hits the ground.

Those trucks I referred to brought the last of our 14s and a 15 was on one of those trucks. It's a premium with no difference to the 14s so, we put it in the back for now.
