The Forester normally does not have an unveiling at a car show.

Which is fine, since the Crosstrek nails the styling and the Forester is built on the Impreza platform. I like what I've seen so far and I'm interested in seeing it with roof rails, too. (I prefer the look of the non-XT model, which I assume to be the 2nd picture, though)

So basically the black sheeps are turbos and the plain sheeps are naturally aspirated?

That XT front end is... interesting. Mirrors need to be folded out and roof rails installed.
I already miss the hood scoop. Not sure if I'm digging the hood lines. Those center ones look odd. Must see in person NOW!

SOA could decide that the hoodscoop is too essential to their marketing plan for turbo charged cars and give us something akin to the pre '05 outbacks and LGTs and the GC RS's

... but I doubt it ... unless they are built here...

Hell, I would be satisfied with the DI FA20 NA motor making the same or more torque than the current FB25 offering. Subaru please keep it the same weight or slightly lighter too. Also if the Tribeca is going bye bye maybe Subaru can use the freed up manufacturing resources stateside for the revised Forester.

NA FA20 with direct injection won't be able to make the same torque as a FB25 with port injection.

200 a month, eh? I don't think they are having issues with the Forester. We just got in 51 of them within a week.

Has anyone seen the new Subaru Foresters with EyeSight yet? I'm wondering how the sunshades look with the stereo cameras.

I'm even more curious of what the Subaru salesmen and saleswomen think of EyeSight personally. Particularly how the system fares in bad road conditions (not bad weather conditions).

Justy, not meant to say there was a shortage of Foresters in the US. I guess the Outback and Forester seem to be best sellers stateside and figure Subaru can crank out more Outbacks once the Tribeca goes bye bye...and a few more Legacy's too.

Right. I think SIA has caught up with demand for Outbacks and Legacys. We have plenty of them and so do the surrounding dealers. I would like for Toyota to vacate SIA so they could bring Forester/Impreza production here.

What would be the benefit of that? I am happy our Impreza is made in Japan. Once I am ready to replace my Mazda, I hope the Forester stays in Japan as well.

It could be cheaper to produce/assemble the car over here.

Sure. But would those cost savings be passed onto the customer? For some reason I doubt it.

The benefit would mean they could put cruise control on base Imprezas; or other things they deem too expensive without raising the price to compensate for the crappy(nice word) yen rate. AND having a bit more control over color/code/options for dealers. We can change colors on certain Outback, Legacy, Tribecas when we are allocated cars. We have ZERO control on the cars coming from Japan because by the time we are allocated those cars, they are already on the ship. Can't change something that is already built.

Oh, and it would help with production vs demand. We would sure like more Imprezas and Crosstreks at our dealership. Only getting 6 more Crosstreks this year. Maybe could help with BRZ production by lifting some off Gunma. We just found out that we are only allocated 4 more of those for the next 6 months and we have 5 orders.

I would have thought you would have more orders than that.

We're not a big dealership compared. We would have many more orders if we could have a car here long enough to look at. We have already delivered 4 of our original 5 orders. We were getting 4 or 5 calls a day on it. I suspect some of them went over to Scion. A lot of our customers, BRZ or not, won't order something without driving it. We had several people interested in a Legacy GT, but since they were order only, we didn't have one to drive. It's the same thing with the Crosstrek right now. My boss is keeping one for test drives until we have more in stock. If someone wants the one we have, they can put a deposit on it and then pick it up once there are more here(with a discount for the miles of course).

Absolute soonest for the USDM would be April/May.

Thanks for the info. That really isn't too bad, but I assume there will be delays and that dealerships/customers won't see their cars until sometime in the summer. That is just my speculation based off what happened with the '12 Impreza launch.
