Car arrived 11/20. - Yes, it's real!

Took delivery on 12/5. Had sport mesh grill and front license plate bracket installed same day. Center console tray placed in center console.
Dealer ordered blue splash guards (silver ones were ordered by mistake) which were installed on Friday 12/7.

Got a zero deductible, 7 year 70k gold plus warranty for $770. Paid $24,765 OTD (tax, title, registration and warranty included in that price). $500 credit from SoA on $510 worth of accessories and installation fees for said accessories. I think I did well.

Finally, on to the pics!

The first three pictures were at the dealer on 12/5 before I started the paperwork and before I got the sport mesh grill, splash guards and front license plate bracket installed.

The rest of the pics were taken after said parts were installed.

The shift knob is from Chris @ LatheWerks. It's a knurled black hybrid, with a gunmetal finished base and silver painted shift pattern.

That's all the pics I have for now. I have about 300 miles on the car already. I've really been enjoying it more than I thought I would have, coming from a turbo car.

lol about time we got some pics sheesh. glad you are enjoying your baby
that thing neesds a drop and some tints just kidding.

Since your car is so clean might as well get her sealed and waxed. Also seal those headlights now to prevent hazing in the future. I use Wolfgang Plastic Surface & Headlight Sealant but any good plastic sealant should be able to take care of the job.

After a little bit of drama I got my baby back as well, so happy she is home again.

Actually I AM planning on tints from Umbra sometime in the future.

Should I get it sealed and waxed now? Winter is upon us, and sooner or later they'll start salting the streets of the Chicago area and suburbs where I reside. Wouldn't it be smarter to wait until Spring?

I'll look into sealing the headlights. Does that help keep the condensation out that I saw when the car was delivered at the dealer initially?

I got EVERYTHING from Grand Subaru. I was going to get the warranty from ROTO Subaru, but Grand matched their price on the spot, so I bought it from them instead. It was the least painful car buying process I've been through yet, which doesn't say much, but that's not bad either.

PM me for information and I'll give you the information from the two dealers I worked with.

I'm SO happy I finally have it! I really like the way it looks. The only two exterior things I'm considering are the front underspoiler (which doesn't make sense in this area due to the weather and unbelievably bad roads) and the body side molding (which is costly and I'm not sure if I like the look it gives the car).

Let me know if you buy the splash guards! They're ~$93 on eBay. http://www.ebay.com/itm/150958819616

headlight sealing will stop it from hazing, sometimes moisture can get into head lights
other times its a problem, its not like you have a brz with the rear headlight moisture issue lol. If you ever had that issue you can have them replaced via warranty. Yeah you should get it detailed now so that the wax will serve as some protection
against evil salt that way she can shine after winter.

I got the front spoiler as a gift to myself, impractical as it may be, I just avoid the potholes and nyc in general.

You guys will most likely think I'm nuts but I'm considering getting the Subaru I ordered once again lol. My dealer still has my name on the order so I asked him to keep my name on the order until it comes in. That gives me time to look over the 2014 Mazda 6 and find out if it is the right fit for me.

Estimated January 7th for my arrival date. I was wondering for arrival dates were they pretty much right on for most people or were they more late or early than estimated? Is that the port arrival date, or when it will get to the dealer? Anyone know how long it sits in port?

Seen a Subaru Sport 5MT today and it really made me think about why I ordered one in the first place, lol. There are definitely goods/bads about either the Mazda 6 or the Subaru Impreza. I just want one to pop out and say "Buy Me!".

well, you are not nuts, I envy you so much...

I haven't even seen a 5mt impreza, when I ordered I test drove CVT for like 5 min, just around dealer parking lot..

my cousin has WRX(I think it's 2010 or 2011) 5mt so I drove that last week and was fun.

I just hope mine comes in soon.

btw, you live in spokane right? how's the weather during winter time?
I might have move to spokane next summer for 4~5 yrs...

Yup i live in Spokane. Weather varies, this year has been pretty light so far. But we get a good deal of snow most years than not. Awd is a good thing to have for sure. Or at least I assume so, I've never had it, lol.

You are crazy, but I'm glad to see that you have reconsidered the Impreza.

Who told you the arrival date? Most of the time that's arrival at the dealer. Typically most cars have been arriving early. Mine arrived (at the dealer) 6-7 days early. No one actually called me the instant it came in, but I happened to be at the dealer the day of or the day after it came in and when they put 2 and 2 together, they let me know immediately.

I would assume the time it sits in port is dependent on how many options you have that are port installed. I'd also think that there may be some sort of delivery schedule that may impact when it arrives at your dealership. I would NOT be surprised if your car showed up (at the dealer) before the end of this year.

I like the Mazda 6 personally, but I haven't thought about it once since I picked up my Impreza. I drove a couple speed6's too before I ordered my Impreza back in July. I know the wait is unacceptable, but once you get it, I highly doubt you'll be disappointed about going with the Subaru. The manual trans in the Impreza is no Honda Civic, but it's really good for what it is. I wouldn't have bought mine any other way. I've gotten nothing but compliments about my car since I bought it. As you may have seen in one of the pictures, my neighbor recently bought a silver mazda 6... I have nothing bad to say about it, however I still can't wait to drive my car every day. I find myself making excuses to drive it!

The manual Impreza's have awd 100% of the time, which is why they get a little worse mpg than the cvt's. I'm due to get some snow tomorrow. I haven't put snow tires on my rims yet, so I'll let you know how it handles on stock tires in the snow. I've heard a LOT of people say the stock Yoko's are junk in the snow, but I want to see for myself before spending more coin on snow tires. They're totally worth it IF I need them, I'd just rather not spend money without seeing for myself first.

I have reconsidered the Impreza but I'm not 100% sold on it. The 2014 Mazda 6 is imo hand over fist a much nicer looking car. I also like the 6 speed vs the 5 speed and I liked other things like how well it drives. Especially the electronic steering, it feels much more refined and the Impreza. The Impreza does come with heated seats in both cloth and leather, while the Mazda doesn't. The biggest advantage the Impreza has of course is the AWD. The Mazda EPA MPG is 25/37 in the manual so it beats the Impreza MT as well (Though just hwy numbers) in that and has some extra hp about 40hp and 40tq over the Impreza. I just figured there was no harm in keeping my name on the order while more info comes out on the Mazda 6 (Goes on sale January 2nd). In the end I'm sure I will be happy with either one cuz they are both nice cars.

I heard about the exact date by calling my dealer today to make sure my name was still attached to the car. So I am waiting to see info on the Mazda 6. They recently just released pricing, some packaging options and trim levels. As well as MPG ratings. I'm waiting to see whats permanent and exact. I'm sure once it goes on sale January 2nd I will know more. Part of what hurts about the Mazda would be more waiting, again to build yet another car, lol. Either way just trying to make the best decision cuz I plan on keeping whatever car I get for quite a few years.

Why are you looking at 2 different classes of cars? Why not look at a Legacy? I'd thonk that would be a more equal car to a Mazda 6 while the Impreza is more along the lines of a Mazda 3.

mazda runs lean in winter, very very lean and I am 100% BIAS. I drove a 2012 mazda 6, it drank too much gas so I stopped and rode my bike until my impreza came back from the body shop. Posted a review on the rental car thread on nasioc. I previously owned a 99 mazda 626, I like the 626 better the outgoing generation of 6's which were quite lackluster. All that opinion being said welcome back max now the countdown death match can begin. come on subie run run run....

Yes the Mazda 3 is much closer to the Impreza. However, I think it's ugly and its not up for a redesign until late 2013/ early 2014 and I'm not going to wait that long.

I can't speak for the 2nd gen Mazda 6 (2009-2013), except for the fact they get about 22/30mpg from the 2.5L they are running. I wouldn't even consider a 2nd gen 6, they are ugly and don't get great mpg. The new 3rd gen 2014 Mazda 6 however, is a much nicer car(from what I read so far). They built the car from the ground up with Mazda incorporating there skyactiv tech (They made it get better mpg, more hp, lighter chassis, and more agile). Overall the new 6 is something I would consider buying vs the 2nd gen which I never would have considered. Check out the 2014 Mazda 6 if you haven't already, if you are curious that is, lol. It is hard to compare this new 6 cuz it's not even out yet and doesn't go on sale until January 2nd. Basically with the info I get by then I will have to make a choice.

I'm sure the wrx would do better cuz it has around 265hp (wrx is heavier though)while the Mazda 6 has 184 hp/ 185 tq. But the Mazda gets better mpg by far and runs on regular unleaded vs the wrx would need premium. The Mazda 6 just seems like a guys family sedan, and the wrx isn't a family car imo. After driving some other Mazdas they are definitely a drivers car and I like that. More of a fair comparison to the wrx would be a mazdaspeed 6, that is if they bring a awd turbo 4 back and make it again.

Just went through a freak hail/snow storm, and I can tell you that indeed they do suck **s in the snow/ice. Only a couple of inches on the ground mixed with slush/compact ice and the tires were all over the place. AWD is what kept me out of the ditch. Installing some Michelin Pilot Sport A/S Plusís tomorrow.

So while I am waiting to figure out what I am going to do I figured I would ask those who now own the car and have had it for a bit how they are liking it? I assume I will eventually get used to the the little things (if I get it), like the electronic power steering. That just felt strange as it comes on rather fast as you are performing a slow turn. I also didn't get a chance to test drive a 5MT, just the CVT. Which after testing the CVT I am very glad I ordered a 5MT instead (but to each there own).

Any quirks or things you regret not getting? Also what are the things you are loving the most about it? Things that perhaps you over looked but turned out to be an awesome feature. I'd appreciate the info it will help me figure out what I want to do, lol.

I’ve had mine for just a little over two months now and I don’t have any complaints/concerns with the car. There are a few oddities – one is with the SAT/NAV system. The unit doesn’t have the best English translations. I’ve noticed a few errors, but one that comes to mind is when my IPhone doesn't sync-up with the system it displays this message "Automatic Connection was failed” Got a little chuckle out of that when I first saw it

One of the nice things about ordering the car is I got everything I wanted and have no regrets with the how it was spec'ed out. The car is very easy to live with on a day-to-day basis, and despite being down on power it’s got pretty good acceleration. Also. the automatic climate control works real nice – just set it and forget it.

500 and change on the DGM
6k on the RED

likes suspension, handling, being one of the few imprezas in the areas, watching ppls head turn as they drool all over the cars

disklikes: tick noise when servo motor powers up on rear wiper, oem all weather mats are crap so the floor liners with the all weathers on top means I am using 2 condoms except for driver. radio (changed that fast). civic drivers revving and attempting to race, ricers challenge

In terms of stuff ppl bitch about aka noise, wind noise is the same as in a honda accord or civic in fact sometimes its not as noisy, you always hear that boxer engine no anc active noise cancellation to ruin your fun. In terms of mod I could post the entire list but I built a site for that enjoy: http://mordor.rutgers.edu/subaru

Ive had mine since mid Oct and loving every minute of it so far. I only have about 800 miles on it. I live only a few miles from my job so I am not putting on the miles.

I like how it handles. There is a really nice curvy road on my way to work and the car just handles it perfectly. The wind/road noise doesnt bother me a bit. I get quite a few stares while driving down the street. There is one particular Mitsu owner who is drooling every time he sees me. LOL I get A LOT of compliments on the car! I havent used the radio at all. I have my iPhone all hooked up so I just play my music on the phone or on Pandora. I have the CVT. This is our second car with the CVT so I am use to it. It does lack a bit in acceleration but its not too bad. Havent used the paddle shifters yet. I do notice that they seem a bit short. I have a hard time reaching them with my small girl hands. But perhaps I will get the hang of it shortly.

I have had the hard to start issues some have had. Only a few times but it was still kind of worrisome until I remembered I had the same issue in my Honda yrs ago. Its just the way I put the key in the ignition. Took me awhile to get use to the Honda so I suspect I will eventually get the hang of the Subie.

I really dislike the cloth seats. My drivers side seat near the left leg is fraying already. I did get the SWP so I have the light beige seats-never again! I dont allow passengers in my car too often so the rest of it is pristine. :-)

Gas mileage is okay. I really didnt buy it for the gas mileage alone so I am not worried about that. I have only had to fill the tank up twice since I got it!

Havent had any snow yet so no idea how it handles in it yet. I am going back and forth about getting a set of snow tires. We get a lot of lake effect snow where I live so I am leaning towards getting them.

There are a few things I want to get...like the splash guards, rear bumper protector and a different grille insert. I am STILL waiting on the crossbars. They are back ordered. But I really dont need them until its time to take the kayaks out.

Overall I just LOVE this car! I am hooked!

My girlfriend's coworkers heard I'm getting an Impreza, the guys keep asking if I am going to race it.
