2012 Impreza: Hatch: http://www.safercar.gov/Vehicle+Shop...vehicleId=6238 Sedan: http://www.safercar.gov/Vehicle+Shop...vehicleId=6238 2013 Kia Optima: http://www.safercar.gov/Vehicle+Shop...vehicleId=7121 I also don't know why you keep bringing up the looks and the transmission. Both of which are personal preference, yet you are treating them like they are flaws. FYI, most people think that the new Impreza is the worst looking Subaru ever made. You may like it, as well as a lot of people on this forum, but take a peak elsewhere. You must not have done any research at all if you think that looks are one of its strong points. Transmission is the same thing: your preference. You complain about automatic being boring, yet you are waiting for a 148hp car. I hate to tell you but the new Impreza wasn't made to be a sporty car to drive. You can have fun with your stick, while I fly past you with ease. Yet another point that you are completely wrong on is turbo. Only the SX models have a turbo on them. So no, the EX I'm getting does NOT have a turbo, but it still out powers the Impreza by over 50hp. Oh, and btw the turbo models run off of non-premium gas as well. I'm sorry to hear that you struggle in the snow with FWD cars. Any skilled driver can manage just fine in snow with good tires and without AWD. AWD is just an added luxury, not a necessity. You also claim that spills are worse on leather than on cloth? Um, have you ever owned leather anything? Leather makes spills a breeze to clean up. I expected Subaru fanboyism when I made the post, since this is after all a Subaru forum, but you sir take it to a new level. If you are going to try and prove a point, at least try to back it up with things that aren't completely subjective like looks and transmission preference. Also, for the love of god, do some research before you post as well, because almost everything you said is absolutely false. Good day. |

Looks:
I liked the subie better, makes me want to butter it with jelly and lick it. Kia well not my taste but still a very nice car. I would never be able to buy one since I was stuck with a soul and rio after my car got totaled. But hey such is life Transmission MTL: Cheaper to Maintain, uses less fluid, if i mess it up cheaper to fix than any cvt subie cvt included. So simple a monkey could do it Auto: CVT not for me, why? http://www.topclassactions.com/lawsu...ction-lawsuit- yep had me an 05 mini cooper before they became hughe turds and lost their throw into corner ability Regular Auto, I currently drive a regular auto until the impreza comes then its gone. FYI: I already have a 2013 MTL impreza and before that it was an MTL civic so, shrug I am a glutton for punishment Winter weather: I drive vermont, upstate ny, new england in general, Oh canada specifically ontario and montreal. FWD with snow tires can handle alot except back roads with mountains, sorry but driving to grafton vt from chester vt via the back roads oh boy was I power sliding like an idiot. Yes I was able to throw the car and let it do what I wanted, yes in this case I would have needed me some AWD. FWD AWD more a question of one requiring a bit more work than the other. Then again I am a stupid northerner so what do I know. Fun to drive: optima has more power but will you every be able to tap that power, your tranny will never allow you to redline it or do really stupid things that an mtl would. That quoted horsepower eh, I have more fun in a lower powered beater car because you are always amazed that it could do that. My accord taps in at 190hp will I miss it, yeah a little. Will I enjoy my little impreza yep sure will, will you enjoy your optima hell freaking yeah. Every car has its own list of issues, the best car on the market is the car that makes you happy. If you like mtl get mtl, if you prefer auto get auto as long as your happy and you are smiling from ear to ear thats all that matters. Love a car for the car, good or bad make love to her and have car babies |

I feel sad for you. Learn how to read. Almost everything I stated was IN MY OWN OPINION. You are entitled to your OWN OPINION which obviously differs from my own. YOU decided to get a Kia because you couldn't wait for the Subaru. I've decided to wait for my Subaru. I've owned cars that are nicer than your Kia. You didn't read my post. I stated MY OPINION as to why I don't want the features you did. Again, a differing of OPINIONS. You're not getting a Subaru anymore. At this point YOU'RE just trolling these forums and just hating to hate. Please just go. Everything you said is subjective as well. It's a matter of OPINION. Please take your opinion elsewhere because you've made it well known here and I personally disagree with you. |

You made a big stink claiming that it was turbo and premium fuel only, which is a lie. That's not personal opinion, that's you trying to act like you know what you are talking about. Then you also mentioned the safety ratings, which I provided the government safety links for, showing that you were lying about that too. And you also immediately replied to the first post about the car by saying you looked into it to somehow try and make you seem more knowledgeable about it I guess? I don't really know why you bothered lying about that, since you obviously didn't look into it based on your claim that they all have turbos and require premium fuel. What else...oh you mentioned that the Impreza would have been cheaper too. That is also false, considering that fully equipping the Impreza is more expensive than what I paid, and it still doesn't have even a quarter of the options available to it. You know, it is okay to admit that you are wrong. Try it, you will feel better. You might also look more mature, and not like a babbling teenager. |

Sup Errybody.
First of all I am the owner of a 2010 Premium Forester. My sister looked into Hyundai Elantra. Ended up purchasing a 2010 Base Impreza (wonderful first time mature person car out of college) in satin white pearl. Nice color. I am a Ford fan (did a lot of racing) more than anything but, Subaru does have a great track, safety awards (THOSE YEARS) / Truck of the year 2 years straight motor trent that no other AUTO manufacture could duplicate LOOK IT UP (you guys should know this being Subi owners) if you research them. As long as you service the head gaskets, religiously change the coolant and trans fluid. Most owners neglect basic service then cry when simple inexpensive things end up corroding plastic components because they wanted to pinch a few coins. Owning a Ford I cannot say the same. I've owned 2, three total in the family. I'd say I know a thing or two about cars. As a matter of fact I'd say I know more than your average bear. Well I stumbled upon this site and I am just browsing. I know Hyundai owns a very large part of Kia 40% + I may be incorrect but I really don't think I am. Well we looked at this car and there are all these claims about Kia making a better safer car. One thing that really really really concerns me is this. The vehicle she was looking at was missing 2% of it's parts. I asked the salesman and he said "I've been asked a lot". I've asked people on racing forums where did these parts go. They mostly laughed and said they were "extra's" funny playful bashing. Well I noticed this... http://waikemblog.com/general/2013-k...hment/img_6440 Seems like Kia Optima does not rate the safety as high the link indicated. Furthermore I still have yet to get this answer out of anyone maybe you could answer this. You seem pretty intelligent I'll take another shot at the question. WHERE IS THE OTHER 7% of you car located? Maybe in Hyundai's factory? If I can't get a straight answer out of a company that sells these cars, makes me skeptical about ownership. On of my favorite movies is Tommy Boy. Tommy: Let's think about this for a sec, Ted. Why would somebody put a guarantee on a box? Hmmm, very interesting. Ted Nelson, Customer: Go on, I'm listening. Tommy: Here's the way I see it, Ted. Guy puts a fancy guarantee on a box 'cause he wants you to feel all warm and toasty inside. Ted Nelson, Customer: Yeah, makes a man feel good. Tommy: 'Course it does. Why shouldn't it? Ya figure you put that little box under your pillow at night, the Guarantee Fairy might come by and leave a quarter, am I right, Ted? [chuckles until he sees that Ted is not laughing] Ted Nelson, Customer: [impatiently] What's your point? Tommy: The point is, how do you know the fairy isn't a crazy glue sniffer? "Building model airplanes" says the little fairy; well, we're not buying it. He sneaks into your house once, that's all it takes. The next thing you know, there's money missing off the dresser, and your daughter's knocked up. I seen it a hundred times. Ted Nelson, Customer: But why do they put a guarantee on the box? Tommy: Because they know all they sold ya was a guaranteed piece of ****. That's all it is, isn't it? Hey, if you want me to take a dump in a box and mark it guaranteed, I will. I got spare time. But for now, for your customer's sake, for your daughter's sake, ya might wanna think about buying a quality product from me. Ted Nelson, Customer: [pause] Okay, I'll buy from you. Tommy: Well, that's... Tommy, Richard Hayden: ...What? I choose to purchase a car with a history than one that is trying to build one and I'm stuck in the shop waiting flipping loaner cars back and forth. inconveniencing, embarrassing, and financially crippling me as a customer. http://www.consumeraffairs.com/automotive/kia.htm Korean's don't understand corrosion (Salt) in the states. They send engineers here in rented suits 3 times too large. The mechanics drill holes in the control arms for the water to drain on them when they are purchased. I know a Hyundai mechanic that works for a Hyundai dealership. He says they are garbage. Despises the cars but they are always busy and it's a great job security he says. I also have a friend that OWNED an older Hyundai and his control arm failed 2 times and almost resulted in an accident. He sold the car. Was very displeased to be polite. Good luck with your Kia I mean it. I hope it treats you well. <-------------------- Will patiently wait for an answer. Last edited by LockDown Mike; 10-18-2012 at 09:31 PM. |

I ordered my 2013 2.0i Premium and it arrived 10 days later. It was a little bit of a hassle finding one in a 5 speed in Long Island but they were able to get it for me very fast. I'm loving the car so far. Can't wait to add all the factory aero options that came on the Sport. It was a little out of my price range so I'll build it over time. 22,100 out the door to the last penny was a pretty good deal.

Interesting how we both will most likely end up waiting 14-16 weeks for our vehicles that were ordered almost on the same day. Based on what others have done, we might have been better off ordering a week or two later!! Btw- I think you'll get your car first. You're much closer to Japan than I am.
What model and options did you order? I'm beginning to think that it may have something to do with it. I got a Premium MT with all-weather package, alloy-wheel package, moonroof, rear spoiler, fogs, auto-dimming mirror. I think Subaru made the more expensive Sports first and now are producing the cheaper base, base premiums, and base limited's. |

I ordered a sport premium MT in marine blue pearl. Options: Sport mesh grill Rear spoiler Side sill plates with Impreza logo Aero splash guards (sport option only) Front under spoiler Popular package #1 (home link, all weather mats, rear seatback protector, and more.) I might end up adding the strake kit or the other body side molding down the road along with the hood protector. But I figured I added enough accessories and got the important ones I wanted. Only thing I am missing that you are getting is the moonroof but it wasn't a high priority in my list. Biggest things were cloth interior needed to be black, marine blue color, and I wanted the Sport for added little things like the striped vs tricot cloth, sport logo mats, and sport wheels. Not to mention getting the aero splash guards which only the sport could get. Oh and leather wrapped steering wheel and shift knob are very nice additives too! I think the hatches and 5MTs are the harder combos to find. Maybe they are making the CVTs first, lol not sure. |

Is 20k a good price for a sport premium 5sp in NorCal? I tend to thing location matters for some deals so I wanted to get some input as to what deals people in California are getting these days. Most posts I see with prices are outside CA.
Anyone have any thoughts? |

Are you talking 20k out the door with tax, title, registration, misc. fees included? Or just 20k + tax, etc.? Also, I assume you're referring a base sport premium with no options, correct?
Personally, I don't think location makes a difference, because pricing is the same across the country as well as the destination fee. IMO- If that 20k is out the door with taxes, etc., I'd go for it. That seems very reasonable. Quote:
fyi- The alloy-wheel package adds a leather shift knob and steering wheel to my premium! I had to have, color, stick, moonroof, and all-weather package. IF the Sport Premium let you get a moonroof, I'd have been all over that... Easier for me to retro-fit my premium as a Sport Premium than to get a moonroof installed after delivery and deal with possible issues. |

That 20k price isn't that great, in my opinion. Sticker is $20,795 + ttl + dest. fee.
So, by my count they're taking $795 off the sticker... Now, I am in the Chicagoland area so my experience may differ from yours, but for comparison here's what I ordered and have negotiated so far. Impreza premium 5MT MBP Alloy wheel package Moonroof package Fog light kit Rear roof spoiler Auto-dimming mirror with compass That comes out to $23,391 on subaru.com which includes the destination fee. Here's what I've negotiated so far. $23,495 out the door, which includes tax, title, registration fees, etc. I've already put my $500 down so I only have $22,995 left to worry about when I pick up my car. Also, for what it's worth, taxes here in IL are around 9 or 10%, so I think I got a pretty good deal. |

Here's an extra reference too
2013 Sport Premium MBP 5MT Options ordered: Sport mesh grill Rear spoiler Side sill plates with Impreza logo Aero splash guards (sport option only) Front under spoiler Popular Package #1: (Auto dimming mirror with compass and homelink, rear bumper top paint protector, cargo area tray, all weather floor mats, rear seatback protector) I'm paying roughly $25,200 which includes TTL, and everything else. Tax is around 9% here. Putting 20k down and doing 3 year payment with small payments |
