Default Steering Wheel 2013 Impreza Limited

What's up with the leather wrapped steering wheel!? It's very uncomfortable, it feels like I'm holding a steel rod.

Problem fixed, I got a steering wheel cover at Discount Auto. They need to add some padding to the OEM steering wheels.

No. Maybe mine was wrapped super tight but there is absolutely zero cushion in it. It feels like grabbing bare steel.

I'm guessing you didn't notice it on the test drive?

It wasn't an issue until I started driving for a long period of time. I got a comfy cover that looks good so I'm GTG now!

My 2012 Sport Premium came with a plastic steering wheel, which I couldn't stand (I guess the 2013 Sport Premiums now come with the leather wheel). My solution was a leather Wheelskins wrap:

So that's another option for you. It takes some time to install well (I used the baseball stitch, which probably doubles the installation time), but I like it. The leather is thick and does provide cushioning.

Still sounds better than the regular plastic steering wheel on the lower trim level models (like mine). Maybe the leather needs some "break in" like a baseball glove?

^ I agree. The leather steering wheel is great, it's much better than the plastic one in lower model of Impreza.

I put 15,000 miles on my 2012 Impreza Limited. Absolutely love the leather steering wheel. No complaints. It is far better than the basic plastic wheel on the lower trim levels. In fact, I test drove a new 2014 Forester Premium the other day, and the very first thing I noticed when I sat in the cockpit was the cheapo plastic steering wheel.

Interesting. What's the lowest Forester that comes with a leather steering wheel? This might be a car that my wife buys next, and I'm hoping that you don't have to buy the Forester with the turbo engine to get the leather wheel.

Although if you do, I guess I can install a Wheelskins leather wrap in her Forester too....

EDIT: Just looked it up. You can get the leather wheel on the Forester 2.5i Limited, which also provides the automatic climate control sytem, power rear gate, and fog lights. That doesn't sound like it's worth the $4500 extra charged for the Limited over the Premium. Sounds like there might be another Wheelskins wrap in my future.

The only thing i notice from my steering wheel is how sticky it gets when i leave my hand in one spot too long.

I wish the leather steering wheel was thicker or had those molded bumps, but I'm guessing they would have gotten in the way of the paddle shifters.

I like the extra thickness my Wheelskins wrap provides. I don't find that it gets sticky if I hold it in the same place. I don't know if this thickness would interfere with paddle shifters, since I have the manual tranny.

Subaru should take a long look at VW/Audi Leather wrapped Steering Wheels. Absolute perfection! IMO

Yes, it was a nice wheel. I also like the way VW (and other German brands too, I think) put the cruise control switch on the end of the turn signal stalk. It sounds strange if you've never tried it, but once you get used to it, it's actually more intuitive there.
