Smokes Really Bad!?

My car is burning oil really bad. At idle it would be a constant smoke, but when I give it some throttle, it's like a house caught on fire! SO ... after awhile of poking around. I saw that oil is coming out of the compressor side of the turbo. I cleaned the intercooler, hoses, and lines and put everything back together to run it (SO I could park it outside.) It idled fine and there were barely any smoke at idle for a few minutes, until I decided to give it some throttle again and again it raged up the blueish tinted smoke.

The turbo was taken out and brought to the guys at Majestic turbos to ideally get rebuilt. When I got there, the guy behind the counter had some time and consulted with me. Outstanding guy he was because he actually helped diagnosed the turbo and asked what happened. He said the turbo seems to have no shaft play and spins freely but also told me to check my engine first to see if there were any problems with it. But if I insist he could have just taken the turbo and put in a work order for a rebuild.

So I thanked him and left with my turbo in hand. I have not done anything yet so far. I'm looking to get some ideas and possibly where to look. He also said there was a possibility that the oil could come back up the turbo return line and leak out. If anyone has any ideas or knows where or what I should do next, I'd appreciate it a lot!

Turbo oil seals.

If you have oil through your intercooler it could mean 2 things. Turbo seals are bad which I think is whats happening or somehow your pcv system is shooting a crap load of oil through it which then goes into your turbo (not sure how but who knows).

Oil could pass through the turbo seals if you have a restriction in your intake. I doubt it but if the turbo is gasping for air its gonna start leaking through the seals.

Turbos dont have seals! They have gas rings, the only way its going to leak is if he has excessive shaft play. Being the place he took it to said it was minimal, I would have to agree that the turbo is likely just fine.

Op, does the inlet side of the turbo have oil in it? Same goes for the actual turbo inlet. Any oil in there?

If there is, you might want to start checking or replacing the PCV and some of the other related hoses.

Do you have an AOS on this car?

i recently replaced my vf39 and while i was installing i kinked the oil out line whiched forced all my incoming oil threw the intake side. i would check for a kink. i idled my car for 2-3 hour to burn it all out, checking my oil and coolant levels constantly. i also got a bottle of mystery oil to help clean out the engine of extra deposits. car runs fine now. also check the shaft for play. but thats where i would start.

Sorry to not have included my modifications, but yes! I do have an AOS. I am now in the process of getting a new PCV and will clean out all the oil in the hoses thoroughly. And yes, I noticed some oil in the samco inlet tube. All this seem to have gone wrong coincidentally from an oil change???

I'm looking for AO separators too, I was considering the Grimmspeed one and would also like some elaboration on why it could be a problem.
