Did my wheels, scoop, trunk trim, and wrx logo matte black today, and grill emblem with wr blue and black plasti-dip. Still need to finish my grill, and trunk star emblem.

Had fun today, and learned alot. Hope this isn't too many pics!

thanks! yeah I'm considering the roof. My friend that let me use his garage is looking at getting the spray gun setup so he can do whole cars.. If he does that before I move home I'll probably do it. Also thought about doing the imitation carbon fiber on the hood, but the ones i've seen weren't very sharp lines so I donno.

I actually have some of that di-noc 3m carbon fiber stuff. Didn't have much success. Tried to put it on my side mirrors and in an m3 rear wing but they peeled off and started wrinkling. Maybe I stretched it too much. Or maybe I didn't add any adhesive. Who knows. Not as easy as those DIY videos

When you plasti dip a while car, do you even dip the inside of the door. I mean the parts which you can only see when you open the door.

If you have enough plasti dip to do it, why not? But i dont think it is required.

It's not "required" when painting a car either, then again, there are no real requirements.

It looks 10x better though, but it's also twice the work...

You would have to bag the inside and do do it more like a real paint job, since plasti-dip overspray on your seats and interior would be a *****.

Yeah as long as you put it on thick enough it peels right off once you get an edge started. We didn't mask my tires, just peeled it but I should have sprayed it thicker or used note cards like we did on my friends. If I do it again I will use note cards. There's tons of youtube videos showing people peeling it. Also Goof Off removes it with the quickness. Actually messed up the trunk trim and had to re do it when I was cleaning the trunk after debadging.

One of the best tips I can give is use a hair dryer. Gently heat the pieces about 5 minutes after you spray and you only need to wait 10 to 15 minutes between coats. Also heat the can itself till its just a little warm before you spray. Comes out in a much finer mist and lays smoother.

Also for anyone attempting to paint their grill and trunk logo BE WARNED. the cracks in the clear plastic on mine were caused by the Goof Off. I knew there was a risk using it. The trunk one that I just cleared and painted cracked just as the grill one did and I paid close attention to it this time. It was definitely the adhesive remover. I used a bit less so its not so bad. It does make removing the chrome way easier but it will mess it up a little. Not really noticeable on the car so I'm not too upset about it. If you are just changing the background color I would recommend sanding the paint off the back!

Ah, ok, I got you wrong. My bad.
Actually, I don't think, that's what plasti dip is for. I'd rather think it's for a nice and fast change.
