Thanks, I'm really happy with how it came out. Like I said earlier, it looks pretty dang decent in the pics, but every time I walk out to the parking lot and see it I'm just like "holy **** thats awesome!" lol. I really have no desire to buy wheels now, and I was wanting to soon.

So I'm thinking about dipping the roof on my 02 WRB wagon flat black. The paint on the roof is faded and not looking so great, and I thought about going vinyl...but now I'm thinking Plasti Dip. My question is, should I also do the top of the rear hatch and the wagon spoiler? I wanted to keep the Plasti Dip between the factory rack, but I can't figure out what to do with the spoiler and top of the rear hatch. I've looked for pics of wagons with blacked out roofs, and I can't find anything to help me make my decision. Any suggestions would be appreciated!

Just do it. If it sucks, peel it off. That's the beauty of the stuff.

hey guys quick question im plasti dipping my emblems right now, i shaked the can very very well before use, sprayed about 6-12 inches away, put 5 coats, waited about 10 to 15 mins before every coat. But the problem is it doesnt look smooth at all, the texture is pretty rough, its still wet i wonder if its going to become smooth when it dries?
thanks

it smooths out some when it dries. but it wont be glassy smooth like most paint. Best advice i can give is warm the can with a hair dryer for about 5 minutes right before you spray, shaking it as you warm it. It will spray a much finer mist and will lay flatter.

I did mine. My friend has had his done for a few months with no damage to speak of. We are in alaska too and the roads are pretty nasty. Besides once they get tore up you just peal and respray. I recommend using note cards stuck between the rim and tire. makes for virtually no clean up.

Has anybody tried the pearlizer? I'm wanting to paint the chrome trim on my trunk with white plastidip and then the pearlizer in hopes to somewhat match my swp. a google search only came up with a guy who used it on his escalade grill. He got a pretty good match to his pearl white.

that's all there is to it. Tape it off a little ways away from the emblems. Let it dry, peel off the overspray. Use toothpicks where necessary between the emblems, but I didn't have to on mine.

That's exactly how I did mine. You'll be surprised how easy it is when you do it.

As you can sorta see in the second pic, yeah, i basically wen to town with it all over the place, 5-6 coats makes it easy to peel off around it, peel it slowly making sure it doesnt screw up or youll start over.

Use a toothpick between the emblems, between mine are a bit ripped cause i sucked at it but as you can tell, cant even see it until youre up to the car, but who would get that close unless you wanna touch it, then i'd kick your ass for touching my "baby" without my permission.

Now before you get all nervous, I hate doing anything on my car without professional help but this is one of the easiest things i've done to my car. Now not saying i dont do anything to my car, i got to stage 2 on her with a quad tip on a narrow body 08 hatch didnt i? soon to the a Grimmespeed EBCS and vf52 on her I just sorta MAN THE HELL UP and do it (as my dad would tell me). couldnt be happier cause it sure looks much better than all that chrome.

Does this stuff really work for rims? And how often do you need to re-spray ?

works great! Did RS rims for winter DD in November Blaze orange. Has been through winter/slush/many car washes/dirt/salt/mud etc... Still looking good and no peeling that I can see. I did put a heavy cots (x7) just to be safe

I think in regular temperatures/rain/sun, it would stand up even better to the elements!

Here is a pic of my wagon before the new rims/color. I had PD them back in last summer, if I recall correctly. They held up great. Rain, heat, snow, They hold up. Just go to youtube and check out the dipyourcar.com videos. They have a bunch of videos answering all the questions you could ever want to ask about plasti dip. I also have my trunk badges and hood scoop PD. those have held up really good after numerous car washings. BTW, I just PD the front bumper lip.

Oh yea, I had to set down 3 layers of white. then i had put about 3-4 layers of green. rule of the rule of thumb, put about 4-6 layers of PD on the rims. You may need to periodically touch them up if you want.
