This thread got long. Can somebody tell me if just using clear dip has same matte effect? Not really interested in doing pinstripes again lol

Same as what? It does give whatever you spray a matte-effect. I'd be interested to see what smoke would do, but it would probably look like whatever you sprayed got dirty or sun bleached.

I can't wait to try the pearl on it... Ill probably end up doing the roof black before I redo the bumper again though.
Okay so leave the lip on, tape off a wide margin on the bumper, spray, then let dry before peeling? I'll probably be doing white with pearl on the lip pretty soon, those videos...

One more thing- has anyone done plastidip over a clear bra? I'd be worried that when you peel the plastidip the clear bra would come off too, like that guy and his STI's clear coat.

Looks and feels pretty good. Was tackyish for the first 48 hours. But after that not bad. Just remember to clean the dust off every now and then. I used amoral and it was fine.

Takes about 24 hours for the PD to cure. I would recommend riding with the windows down or with the AC on the first 24 hours so you inhale the fumes. Plus it will help with the PD curing faster. The dash looks nice. I think I might do the same.

pretty common but I thought I'd contribute to the thread. Dipped my stockers white. I know I know it doesn't match with the rest of the car, but we'll see what a few days worth of brake dust will do to dull the white a bit.

Pearlizer on the white will bring them closer to your factory paint and will be more eye pleasing. But they look good in white too.

Ok so I'm attempting to plasti dip my roof black. After about 4 cans I have these lines on my roof from spraying it. When I did other parts of y car these evened out on their own. I have 1 can left, can I just spray the last can in light coats from maybe 12 inches or so away to get a light even coat on there? Or am I gonna hafta peel it and retry?

Scratch that, the 12 inch spray fixed it.

Yea initially I was looking everywhere for white dipped wheels on a white 11-13 wrx hatch. I think I found another year and thought of it well enough to pull the trigger on mine. I have a pretty busy week but ill see if I can't snap a few more over the weekend.

Should try a light coat of silver metalizer to make it look pearl like. As is to me it looks silly

I've never liked the white on the satin white, something about the whites not matching... but that doesn't look too bad- and usually i love white on white. I did mine about 5 months ago, they are a pain to keep clean...

Nah didnt bother, since the car was black before the spray, it wasn't a major coverage issue. In some lighting (only one occurrence) you can see that it isn't that great. But 99% of the time you cant notice.

So just spraying where I could get the best angles etc did the job.

I taped off where a clear bra/bug shield would have gone.
