Dunno if I'd spray it on a performance exhaust tip. Plasti-dip burns like hot fuse. Peel some off and light it up to see what happens.

It is some what flammable..... lol.

I use plastidip on my tools like my Porter Cable 7424XP, spray a nice thick coating over the encasing to protect it from dirt and scratches. Keeping it looking new for longer periods of time during heavy usage. Works so far, the only problem is that it gets more scuffed in my bag during storage, than during actual usage. Lol but that was what it was originally intended for, tool use.

First time using Plasti Dip and I think the results came out great. My thanks to all that contributed to this thread I picked up lots of tips.

Thought i would put an update out. These are my rims, dipped on 11/23/12 just hit them with the DIY car wash pressure gun and scrubbed them good with the foam brush, not a peel, scratch or lift anywhere since they were sprayed pretty happy with how they turned out. I was worried the light colors like white, green, yellow, etc. would darken but so far they are just as bright.

for reference here they are on day 1:

Yup. Just haven't peeled off the lugs yet. Need to get black ones. I'm not a big chrome fan.

posting in the Nexus 7 thread in the Audio sub forum. Had to order a new Japanese Double DIN face, and Plasti-Dipped it. Love it and the texture.

Has anyone used it to make vinyl stickers? without the vinyl or sticking part i mean. I was thinkin of cuttin out some letters into a cereal box to make a stencil. Just not sure how sharp the lines would come out.

Do it you won't regret it. They look better than my crappy cell phone pics show, and the texture is even better for gripping.

As far as taking the door panels apart they're pretty straight forward, I used these instructions: http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/show....php?t=1891166 Then taking the door handle assembly apart is simple; 2 screws, a punch pin, and unloading a spring (be sure to wear shop gloves the spring is loaded in the handle). LMK if you need help or have questions.

Watching thses videos have convinced me to plasti dip my stock 2012 wheels in the spring! I know this has probably been covered but how many coats should I do. I am asking this as the stock wheels are kinda dark as it is so they should come out pretty black with 2-3 coats, correct? how many cans would it take to do say 3 coats, and would it be very durable. I am asking this because plasti dip here in newfoundland cannot be bought for any less than 20 bucks a can, so the least amount of cans the better!

Considering the fact that im 18 and a college student and i pay for everything for the car myself, i try to spend the least amount i can on doing stuff to the car. And yes 25 bucks a can for something that may not work is a lot in my opinion, considering i would need 2 - 3 cans.

Here's a thought order it i doubt it's 25$ shipped for one can to Canada. And maybe you shouldn't have spent 25 grand on a car if you complain about 50 bucks on something you wanna do. End rant.

Im not saying i dont want to spend the money on something i want to do, im just doing my research so i know its going to work before i spend the money. And i tried looking on ebay and stuff and every one i clicked on didn`t ship to canada.

It was originally made for non-automotive related lol. I dipped and sprayed my tools to protect or give it a better grip where I need it. Especially for delicate procedures like paint correction.

Plasti Dip peels off. I did the same thing to my wheels. In fact I didnt even mask off the tires. Peels right off the tires.

2 cans x 5-6 coats per wheel. Check out dipyourcar.com and watch the how-to videos. Also buy one of those snap on spray triggers. Makes it so much easier to do and less hell on your fingers. Remember if you mess up, it peels off. Its not paint, its rubber.

6.98 a can at home depot. this thread isnt very old by the way. ive put 5-6 coats using 2 cans on 4 wheels. Although it doesnt hurt if you lay it on thick. just takes longer to dry.
