Default Hard to downshift 5 speed rallispec gears

2006 Subaru Wrx with upgraded gears to rallispec sti set. All up shifts are normal but I am running into a problem where shifting from 4th gear to 3rd gear has become very hard. It doesn't grind or make any noise but to physically
Push into 3rd gear has become difficult. Going from 4th to neutral then moving the shifter from left to right still In neutral allows me to easily go into 3rd. It's simply the straight push from 4th to 3rd that is so difficult. Any ideas?

I did the install at my house with a professional lotus mechanic who worked for NASA helping out. He is extremely knowledgable and everything was silky smooth for 5000 miles

well...maybe yer professional dont know about subaru transmissions and screwed the p00ch somewhere and it needs to be taken down again and figure it out

this kind of thing happens all the time...you can know everybody but god himself, and if they never did a subaru transmission, odds are they gonna get it wrong the first time around

Like uncle Scotty said I would tear the transmission back down again and you can inspect and see where it's possibly rubbing. If you do it early enough you will prevent further damage. Also check and see if you put the correct viscosity of gear oil in because this can sometimes cause hard shifts as well.

Start with the basics, check your linkage under the shifter and all that stuff. If there is an issue internal then it would be something around the 3/4 gears. 3/4 sleeve and hub, 3rd syncro, 4th bulk ring, or 3/4 shifter fork. Sometimes on the shifter forks the little nylon tabs wear off so your sleeve is just riding on aluminum. If that happens then you would get a condition like what your describing.

Good Luck
