Default Footwell Lighting Kit Technical Spec Question

I'm looking to install the Subaru Footwell Illumination Kit in red, but heard the LEDs are pretty dim. I was thinking of using the kit's harness but replacing the LEDs with my own. Does anyone know the technical specs on the LEDs the kit comes with (voltage range and current draw)?

The kit hooks up to the cubby light circuit, so the footwell lights come on when the car's headlights are on. Does anyone know the technical specs of the cubby light circuit? Such as the circuit's voltage level and current output?

Thanks for any help/insight

LED's are almost 12V units and current draw is next to nothing. It's an LED remember.

I'm pretty sure the cubby light is a bulb covered by a red gel. That means that it could be a 6v or a 3v, but chances of that are slim.
