Sorry to hear that

You weren't the first and I'm sure you won't be the last.

It's really a shame ECUFlash isn't open source. It would be trivial to implement a failsafe by cross referencing the open Rom image with the ECU ID given by the SSM2 Init. But I suppose if you're making money from recovering bricked ECM's that would be a conflict of interest.

Would you know if an 06 WRX ecu ending in 201x "the original" is interchangeable with
06 WRX ecu ending in 200x ???? Im hoping there is not a 16 vers 32bit issue between the two

Yep, A8DH200X, A8DH201X, and A8DH202X roms are all cross-compatible for the 06 USDM WRX that use the ecu marked '22611AL350'.

However, you will need to have the car towed to a dealership/shop with SSM3 diagnostic tool (or have them come to you) to have the new ECU paired with the immobilizer and your keys. That will run ~100 something depending on the dealership and you will need the key code that comes with your keys (small plate with etched numbers). It's something like $50 for the dealer to look up the key number if you lost it.

/\ Best bet is to send the ECU to Tactrix and have them bench flash it.

Honestly i would send it to COBB. They charge almost exactly the same after shipping. COBB was able to fix my ECU after the first brick. Tactrix was not. So i was screwed out of close to 50 in shipping costs.

Yeah I sent mine to Austin Texas. You have to fill out this RMA form.

Success! I finally got my car running again. I got another ECU and flashed the map i need without problems. After following advice on here, I pulled the stock tune from the ECU then copied the tables from the pro tune over in RR. Flashed it back and it worked perfectly! Thanks for all the help from everyone. I am still not really sure what caused the problem was with my first ECU. I still plan on sending it to sharptuning to see if he can unbrick so i will have a spare.

I would beat the first ecu with my ball peen hammer, before I spent more money on it. Seems like that ecu may have been your problem
