Default Engine Management: AEM EMS vs TurboXS UTEC

In your collective opinion which would be better for someone who will be progressively modding their car (keeping in mind that this will be a daily driver)? I've heard lots of ranting and raving over the AEM, but not a whole helluva lot about the UTEC (plenty about the UNI chip). I'm beginning to think the big difference is price and the UTEC comes with four maps to the EMS's 1. What are your takes on this?

Well, of those of you that have the UTEC, what do you think? Is it worth the investment? How tunable is it?

For the EMS, does anyone actually know how much it cost? Are we talking one kidney or two?

The AEM EMS will not be out for at least 3-4 more months. They have not begun the prototype testing yet, which will have to wait until the current batch of R&D (Mustang, Eclipse, Celica) is done.

BTW, I don't work for them.

I think eventually the software for the Utec will do everything most people would want to do with a standalone EMS. It has injector drivers, absolute timing control, fueling control, and I imagine eventually the ability to run completely off MAP. The other plus to the Utec is the amount of people that will be using them is huge. Getting questions answered and maps will be simple.

With the standalone you get absolute control over everything but that means you have to deal with everything. I think the autronic pnp that vishnu will probably be offering (as well as other autronic dealers) will be better than anything else as far as a standalone ems.

I don't see any light at the end of the tunnel for the AEM product. I would say it's still 6 months out at best.
