Default 2012 STI EWG Setup Questions

I just received my wastegate and uppipe in the mail today. and after doing some research about how to correctly "plumb" the wastegate, a few questions arose.

It is a tial f38 wastegate.

Can I use my stock EBCS?

Will I have to remove the restrictor pill?

Will I have to run a vaccum to the top?

Here is a diagram I found, Is this the correct way to "plumb" it?

Any help would be great.

Ive got a stock EBCS on mine. One line goes from the Compressor to the EBCS and the other to EWG. The second port on the EWG is left open/vent to atmosphere.

Running a Turbosmart 38mm ultragate

I origionaly had it hooked up the same way as that diagram. But first test drive and it over boosted like never before!! So i switched it to the 2nd EBCS routing diagram and i was back to 19pis dead on, just as Im tuned for.

The top port on my wg is open. With the GS 3 port you don't need a restrictor pill but idk about the stock one. One question though. If you're doing all this work why not get a better ebcs while you're at it?

So Uhm I went to install it last night. And after running into numerous problems it was finally time to put the ewg on. Andddd....it hits the cat on the Downpipe and it doesn't go on straight. So I'm not too sure what I'm gonna go. And if I were to turn it the other way the dump tube wouldn't be routed anywhere

its a VERY tight fit. my went on with no problems. once upipe is in i found more room by lowering motor back down into mount. just keep playing with the angle.

Here are photos of the GrimmSpeed EWG uppipe, Tial 44m EWG, and Invidia downpipe. There is plenty of clearance, but if you have DP with a cat at the top, then it might not work out as well. I think the GrimmSpeed is known to have some of the best fitment for the EWG.

Yes this is exactly my problem...

I have the invidia catted downpipe.

As for the uppipe, im not sure of the brand, i got it off a member on the forums.
It looks just like the GS uppipe in a two bolt version. That fit fine though.

I may take off my dp, bolt up the ewg and then basically squeeze the top of the wastegate in between the cat as i bolt up the downpipe again

Yes, you should take the DP off to get the EWG to fit in there, and then put the DP back on. If the fitment is the same as the GrimmSpeed, then it should all fit fine. But some of the cheap knock off's have slightly different placement and they won't work with certain downpipes. But there's not much reason to keep a catted DP when you're dumping the EWG to atmosphere anyways.

Yes very very true. I think I'm gonna go ahead and do that. I'm also going to tap the holes because one of the threads started crooked. It should help a lot. Thanks ill keep you updated
