Default Front underframe

I ran over a curb that should not have existed where it was an it ****ed up my v-lip an did this to this frame. This is the front left wheel, as you can see its touching this frame now where there should be a gap. What is this frame bar called? It wraps all the way around the front under the front plastic to the other tire. I need a new one, along with a realignment.

You don't need a new one, MANY of us have a bent front subframe as it is called. Many straight up remove and toss it.

That's the same subframe on my Forester that's rusted to nothing...

I pulled mine off, it sits in my shed.
It's primarily there for energy absorbtion on offset collisions (think your driver side to an oncoming car's passenger side) If you primarily drive on roads with center barriers it's not a big deal to remove that altogether, but keep in mind that more car crash fatalities occur due to offset collisions than any other collision type:

http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3242554/

See Figure 6 for evidence of that.

So there is a significant potential safety impact for removing it, just so you know. If you think it's important to keep it, check your local sub-forum and ask if someone has a sub-frame to sell. Most likely someone with one that's been sitting in their shed / garage for years will sell to you for pretty cheap.

i already ordered a new one. It makes a grinding noise everytime I drive it an i drive all sideways so it needs to be fixed. I have other things going on in life like dad dying an other issues to be looking for a spare somewhere. They want 700$ for the whole deal, if I knew I could just take it off I would have done that before..

For 500$ send that beyoch back...

If the car isnt driving right, you messed up the ACTUAL subframe potentially...

Right above your doink there, is where the front of the lower control arm mounts, so if THAT is bent, well, you'll need a new one

If where it's bent is where the control arm mounts, that's the crossmember. The traverse links (control arms), swaybar bushing mounts, and engine [mounts] are mounted to it.
