Default Replacement impreza key shell

Hi guys...

Recently got my key mauled by my dog, now the case is very chewed up, anyone knows where I can buy a blank key replacement? Been searching around but it seems like its quite hard to find... (good thing my internals are still in place and immobilizer chip is still ok..)

attached is a photo of my key

If you're not in the US, which it appears you aren't, then you should ask this in a forum that is local to your country. Here the immobilizer keys are a dealer item, there would be no problem getting a replacement although it would have to be programmed by the dealer to the car's ECU. I don't think we ever had remotes like that with replaceable keys.

Try your luck on ebay ... usually there are tons of blanc shells going arround in all shapes and sizes.

hmm just had a look and indeed they all seem to carry the shell that matches my 06 ... i have to say though that it looks VERY similar when looking at button position and overall size of the shell. Could these be interchangeable? If you want i could make some quick measurements of button location and shell size etc.

Yep i have the one with the single row of dots.

Ok so i got all the measurements ... now i just need to draw them all on a picture of a key.

Btw while searching i also found this. This isn't arround for so long i assume and it's a flip key design which is a whole new shell that uses your key's internals ... kinda cool. So if you should come up with nothing this can be a last resort.

http://www.wholesalecarkeys.net/2-bu...za-legacy.html

the link is non-ebay but they are available there just need to search a bit.

EDIT: found one http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2-Button-R...item2c682345b4

I'll try and get the measurement pic up soon but i might aswell wait just in case you deside to get the new flip key design thing.

Oh and if the shell size matches then i guess i need to start doing measurements on the inside to confirm that the internal circuit board will fit.

hey guardian, from the pictures of the US style key, it seems like the internals won't quite fit in there =\ .. as for that flip key, it looks promising i might try getting one of those for fun

I haven't really thought about the internals yet. If they are indeed different in size then yeah it's probably a lost cause. Should you ever need those measurements or any other info on my style of key just send a pm. The flip key is very cheap so yeah why not give it a try
