Default Perplexing Defi BF Gauge Issues

Howdy...

I have a few BF Series gauges that I'm having an issue with. I'm fairly good with electrical issues and this one has stumped me so far.

Gauges worked fine until car was stored. When I got the car out of storage the gauges would not work and the control unit simply made a clicking noise and would not light per illumination. I traced back all wires and found that a rat or some other insidious rodent had chewed the boost sensor wire. All other connections were ok and intact.

I replaced the boost sensor and control unit with no luck. New control unit lights.
I replaced the meter output wire which had been having a loose pin issue and no luck there either.

I tried different gauges as the start of the series, tried swapping the connections. Gauges do not work, go through opening sequence, nothing. Pins on gauges are intact.

And yes, the meter output is wired to output 2, all gauge sensors are in the proper spaces on the control unit and all wiring to the harness for power, ground, illumination, etc are correct and unchanged from previous working configuration.

Cliffs notes:

Rat chews wire. I replace sensor wire, loose pin meter wire AND the control unit. All connections have continuity. No gauges work.

Anyone have any ideas? I've searched but can not find anything other than the usual issues, bad wiring, wrong meter output, etc....

TIA - Dave

So the new control unit lights up but nothing on the gages? Try checking the power and the switched power to the controll unit. Its either this one or the illum. wire that always gets people. If its not correct than the controller will light up but the gauges will not work.

Same thing happened to me. I even ripped apart a gauge because I thought it was broken. I also had a link cable from the unit to the gage go bad once.

I'll double check the power. It could have gotten loose when I was checking connections.

So frustrated. Everything worked flawlessly for years until I stored the car!

Nope, all connections are ok. All wires in their proper places. All connections were made on the stereo harness and stereo functions properly

Bump?

Hope I didn't buy a bad controller. I'll have to find someone local with defis and try to test it.

Check the voltage going to the first gauge.

Would that be the orange wire on the Defi meter wire output?

Guess what? Another bad controller. Got a working one and fires all gauges and works properly.

Yeah, its a bummer. I have 3 of these controllers that have failed for no reason. Must be gamma ray strikes or when Snooki queefs.

I wish there were a place in the us that repaired them as they are no longer being produced and have been superseded by the advance line for quite some time now.
