i hear you can get a sticker that says " this is an AWD vehicle only, flatbed tow only"
not sure if it works but im sure the tow guy will see the sticker and think twice before towing your car.

I doubt he will care. Try fighting the city after they damage your car, no win-win situation there.

NYPD annoys me... I would've ran over to the truck and yelled at him. This kind of thing is covered by insurance though right?

You never know NYPD Traffic are very sneaky and everyone doesnt like them. I get tickets because they need to fill out their books. If I sit in my truck double parked they ask me to move to a hydraunt, if I sit on a hydraunt they give me a ticket for a meter. It does get quite annoying because there is too many of them walking around.

Flatbed? You can see the wheel dollies on the back of the truck.

Yeah real sneaky making you move when double parked which is illegal and by a hydrant which by the way, last time I checked, that's illegal too! How dare they be so sneaky!!!

Sounds to me like you get tickets because you're violating laws left and right, not because they need to fill their books!

Really?!?! How terrible! Imagine that, being towed for expired parking! Who would've thought that you couldn't just park anywhere you want for as long as you want for free?!?!

Doubt they're gonna accept liability. Not their fault that you were parked illegally. Can't expect all tow truck drivers to know about awd and how they need to be towed.

Like an electrician doesnt need to know amps.. Or plumber doesnt need to know pressure.. Or mechanics dont need to know brakes.. Pilots dont need to know to fly... A ticket doesnt justify a mogoloid destroying yur car.. And they wont tow for meter btw....

Well, tow trucks are supposed to be responsible for any damage they cause to a vehicle while in their possession. Trying to prove it and get something out of them is another story.

It is their fault. If that's your reasoning why not just break the window and steal the car. After all you were parked illegally. Once they get it up in the air a quick look under is all they'd have to do.

Are you sure they wont tow for a meter. From my previous experience working outside for the last 6 years in the city everyday I have seen a handful or cars towed for meters.

Maybe because towing isn't a criminal act like stealing a car...ever think about that? Look under all you want if they put the car in neutral unless they've ever owned a Subaru how are they supposed to know that it could cause damage?!?! I'll be honest here and say that until I owned one and read the manual, I would've never guessed that being towed in neutral would have an adverse affect....and I'm ASE certified! It's not common knowledge and you're certainly not born with it!

And the tow truck driver knows how to tow cars! So what is in question? You're saying he should know how an AWD system operates and that it can cause damage towing with 2 wheels on ground even when in neutral! Why should he have to know that? Better yet, how could he know that unless he's ever owned one or read a manual?!?!

I think if someone has the liability to operate a tow truck he or she should know what they're towing. I work on fiber optic networks, if I cut something out accidently does that mean I dont need to repair it? Just because Im not sure what I cut out?

No reason to argue about this I just posted a picture because I think its wrong for them to improperly tow a vehicle.
