Default Impounded, Sad Day

Just to let everyone know you won't be seeing me on the street for a while as my rex was impounded last night near the villeneuve airport. Along with 9 other cars including a blue rex. No flames please about street racing as I know its wrong I broke the law I have to pay the consequences so I'm not gonna complain. Unfortunately this was the first time the stony plain RCMP had impounded cars for such actions. I hope to see you all again soon.

Default It NEVER pays to race on the street!!!

Reza,

If you think you've seen the last of this, you'd be wrong. Not only will you likely get a date in front of a judge, you will likely never get insured again.

This probably falls under a "Driving without undue care and attention" type of offense which basically seen as equivalent to a DUI, without the criminal record.

Ya, I got one of those on my GSX-R750 three years ago. I'm just now able to get insurance in Alberta

a.k.a "Careless Driving"

Then again.....its most likely a "stunting ticket" or something similar. I wouldn't worry too much. Talk to a lawyer though...

I was charged under the highway act of race on a highway. I am meeting with my lawyer tomorrow to discuss the situation. I'm hoping to get a hefty fine with a hike in insurance. I have a summons to appear in court November 7. What a day to attend my first ever street race.

if you street race you will pay the consequences..... your 18 years old? with a car like the wrx insurance will aready be high enough. unless you have a high paying job or rich parents you aren't going to be able to afford to drive.

"Dangerous Driving " is a criminal offence ( not highway traffic) thats the really bad one..

How can they impound your Car?! Were there other problems besides the racing?

There were no other problems. Nothing illegal inside or outside of the car. Each car that was racing got towed. They said they had just given warnings before and that it was getting out of hand so they impounded and charged us with racing on a highway. I was surprised myself to see my car towed. Right now I have no idea what the penalty could be

P.S. Thanx bigbear522

this happened recently.... crusing home with a buddy.... we hit a redlight. we decide to give it a go. we got up to 160km/h and we were dead even.... we blew by a police van parked on the side of the road. we turned off and cut through a residential area..... we got lucky that time... after that experience i don't think i will ever street race again. if the cops decided to chase us we probably would have got our cars impounded. it never pays to street race... something for you to think about since your car is impounded.

I was charged with "Driving to fast for conditions" and something else, dont remember a year ago. Lost my license for 6 months. and had to pay two $100 dollar fines. Didn't have to worry about my car being inpounded cause it was totalled I didnt get dropped from my insurence though. Just put me on high risk for awhile. That why I now drive an RS.

To perhaps put this all in perspective, I drove by a wrecked 427 Cobra replica hung-up on one of the medians on the Yellowhead just East of 66 Street around 5:15pm tonight.

Two very long twisting skid marks from the outside lane across three lanes of road until they met with the car on the median.

It's a gradual corner where he lost it, so he was probably doing well in excess of 160kph to loose it at that corner.

Frame was twisted beyond belief (frame/body looked like a pretzel), fibreglass all over the road, two smashed rims, and that's just from the outside. Based on how he was hanging on the median, I'm going to guess a few mechanical and bent suspension pieces too. The guy is probably going to have to drop another $20k into his $50k kit car just to get it back up to snuff again.

Hope the idiot didn't hurt anyone in the process.

RezaREX, PM me immediately! I'll bet I've had my car impounded more times than all of the Alberta members combined (double digits). I've also been in court twice as many times & in front of the Driver Control Board more times than that. I'll have some serious advise of what NOT to do, if you want to save your bacon.

I'm a reformed driver now...

they showed a sliver wrx 2x on the whole broadcast, pretty much it was said that the police was tip off about the street racing. They show some civics and other cars that got impounded. Said that street racing is becoming more common in edmonton, and if you really want to race you should goto budpark. That's pretty much it. It did say that you guys are going to appear in court very soon too. =( oh man wish you luck again.

They even did a shot of your hoodscoop! STi? kind of funny they did a close up of that....
