Default no cam signal/spark with AEM and ej207 non-avcs

Issues getting AEM cam reading on non-avcs ej207 setup using wrx sprockets and sensor...

motor (from build thread):

EJ22t shortblock, Ross 9:1 Custom Pistons, ej22t crank

EJ207 Version 7 Spec C Type RA Heads, Kelford 272 non-avcs Cams, Ti retainers and springs, Inconel Valves +1mm on intake, built by RAW Performance

Basically using my 04 USDM WRX engine harness with 04 WRX single cam position sensor that is directly behind the driver side intake cam sprocket. Using USDM 02-05 wrx cam sprockets (metal cam is on driver side intake)

I would think that since I'm running AEM 30-1810U (02-05 WRX) and NON-AVCS Kelford 272's that I would be fine with this single sensor setup. I understand that stock ecu the V7 EJ207 with AVCS activated gets cam readings from the two rear cam sensors but i'm not running that. I'm wondering if the non-avcs kelfords still need the rear sensors or if I can't read off the front or something...however why would the JDM heads still have the port for the front cam position sensor that reads of the sprockets?

Anyone have any idea why this isn't working correctly? I will post this up on tuning forum as well in regards to what the AEM is showing but just looking for people familiar with ej207's and hybrid setups.

THanks for the help.

my apologies, i finally spotted other threads talking about the AEM v1 cam sensor issues after initially posting this. However, from all the threads I found a solution wasn't really provided that sounded promising. I'll be filing down the cam sensor to get the air gap closer and adding a direct chassis ground to the head but if anybody has any newer info on this issue or suggestions, please let me know.
