Default whether to build or buy

Hi i have been pondering on whether i would like to build my current EJ205 or buy an EJ207 or EJ257 build. I have built plenty of motors in the past just this will be my first subaru build but not my last. My goal is to get around 400 hp i know it will take a lot of supporting mods to achieve that and i a fully ready to take on the task of building my car. I want the car to be streetable but i do want to do some autox and drag runs. I plan to sleeve bore and stroke my 205 if i go that route and i will be running a tomei arms m7960 turbo and as for other parts it is TBD any input about whether a 205 would be ale to do this or if a 207 257 would be better suited would be greatly appreciated.

Again Thanks for any mput and please no negative comments.

I like to build mine and I wouldn't let anyone do it for me. That way it's all on me, good or bad.

Subaru engines are very fickle on tolerances. So if they are not perfect/ideal on the build, the engine will have problems (low oil pressure, blow by, noisy, short life, and so on...). You are better off buying a running, low mileage, good compression, good oil pressure (30+psi at idle) EJ207 and do the swap.
