Default Speaker Upgrade?

Well after the first 100 miles I still love the legacy (2013 premium). However I am not happy with the factory radio (non harman kardon). I love the look of the radio and really don’t want to change it out. Has anyone felt the same and decided to just change the speakers? I know I need to do something but I am not sure what is the best move.

Thanks,

Liquid

FYI, we have an audio section that this would be PERFECT for. I know a major "issue" with the newer Subaru's are bad sound.

I would bet money the problem is the head unit, not the speakers. I changed my head unit in my 08 STi, fully intending to do the speakers after, but never needed to. Ensure you get a signal to noise ratio on your new headunit of 92 or greater.

I hate the way the system sound with the radio, but Bluetooth and iPod via USB actually sounds much better. And yea, from everything I have read, change out the head unit and you may just find that the speakers are not too bad.

I added 1 sub in the trunk with a custom box and it greately improved the overall sound in the car. I also only listen to my music through bluetooth or aux because the radio sounds terrible.

Subarus have ALWAYS come with crappy headunits.

You'd think Subaru would have smartened up by now.

I use the radio rarely myself...I remember though how much better the sound systems were in my 2008 Evo X GSR and 2011 Xterra Pro-4x. Both had Rockford Fosgate systems w/subs stock...in the trunk for the Evo, under the seat in the Xterra.

NOT ALWAYS.

My car came without a radio, or speakers.

After a few months I went for component front speakers with a high powered head unit with line outputs, and an Infinity self powers sub.

Only the Infinity is still available, and it works with line level input too...
