Default Widebody wagon bumper fitting

A friend turned his MY02 bugeye wagon in to a MY04 wide body wagon. Everything looks great but there is a fitment issue with the front bumper.

He has been told the bumper skin is longer in that year, and as a consequence the skin doesn't fit well toward the wheel well. Are there any recommendations for better fitment, so the wheel well doesn't have an edge from the bumper? Sorry for no photo.

So you are using a 2004 sedan bumper, correct? I mean both the front skin AND bumper beam? Are you also using the 2004 radiator support?
When I changed my Bugeye wagon front to a Hawkeye sedan frontend, there were a lot of small adjustments that were needed (like rerouting some of the wiring harness near the front radiator support).
