Oh lordy, another "how do I turbo my NA Impreza" thread.
Well, I guess I should first say welcome, but secondly, do some research on this topic because many many people say this same thing.

The most basic and honest response I can give you is that if you wanted a turbocharged vehicle, you should have bought a WRX. The cost involved is not worth it. The engine you have is not related enough to the WRX to just slap on a turbo, and your drivetrain components will not be up to the challenge of handling 300hp as you say is your goal. Not to mention, "2g's" will not begin to make a dent in the overall cost of such an undertaking.

As for your intake runners being hot, that is because they are located on top of the motor, which is emanating heat. They are going to become hot because they are made of metal, which soaks up heat. Part of the design unfortunately.

So basically you want an STi for just a little bit over the price of a stock 2.5i? LOL, good luck!

GC8 steered you right man. You want that kind of power, you need to swap in a WRX engine and prepare to replace your tranny all the time, or swap in both an STi engine and STi drivetrain. 2 grand won't even buy 1/4 of that.

Lol, I like that gif. It's always a good idea to do research on these type of things BEFORE buying a car. Your pretty much stuck with your 2.5i's performance besides some little thing that will make it a bit better.

to sum it up, even if you got the intake/exhaust manifold and bolted a turbo up, a turbo motor runs lower compression to account for the increased compression of the turbo. You would only be able to run a few PSI at the most on a higher compression motor. Not to mention ECU to control boost etc.

The quickest easiest way would be to buy a wrx motor/ECU from a wreck and bolt it up to your existing trans. Gonna cost more than 2k.

If you want to spend 2g's on something that might actually help your 2.5i rather then blowing up your transmission then buy some supension upgrades and brakes with maybe a rim/tire combo then take it autocrossing at your local track and experience subaru AWD!

Vahnatai, you'd better look out. People have been getting points for similar posts. I got some a couple of weeks ago. I think gifs and sarcastic comments are now considered only appropriate for OT. At least thats what subiegal told me.

Hello and welcome from a 2 day old newbie. I'm assuming you financed your car thru the dealer. It's probably not too late to bring your car back and renegotiate for a WRX. I did this with my RS and it's worth the extra $70.00 a month payment, (tho it's a year longer than my other loan). I'm sure they do this all the time.
