Work XT7's
Sure they look fantastic, but are they worth it? I emailed Work USA about custom ordering a set in 5x100 and also got a few specs on the wheels. in 18x9.5, these are going to weight approx. 25-26 lbs, they're a cast wheel (not as strong as forged correct?) and they cost just about $2000 with a 6-8 week wait... Am I missing something here? Like I said I LOVE the look, but am having a hard time justifying a wheel that costs so much with so little to offer. Maybe I'm getting my facts straight but just wanted to see what you guys thought. Also I'de be completely open to alternatives. I also really like the grids which seem to make more sensce since they're still cast but $1000 cheaper.
We have a lot of potholes here and I'd like something strong if possible that's not gonna add 3+ lbs to the stock wheel weight. I drive a 2013 WRB wrx sedan btw. Thanks for the input and ideas guys Will

Forged vs cast is a very heated debate.
Plenty of very successful track cars run rotas + other cast wheels. Hell, RPF1's are still technically cast and they are lighter than the majority of the market (forged OR cast, save for magnesium wheels). Either one will hold up just FINE for daily driving, and whoever says pot holes play a factor doesn't know how to drive. Hit a significant pot hole at 70mph and ANY wheel will crack/bend/break. And if you are cracking wheels left and right, find whichever wheel is cheaper to replace. It comes down to personal preference. If you want them, get it. |
