Default General G-MAX AS-03 245/40-18 Tire

I saw these at tirerack and they had some decent reviews on the web. They seem incredibly cost effective for a daily driver. Does anyone have experience with these tires? Im looking for replacements for the Dunlop Sp Sport which will give me better wear without losing grip. Most of my driving is in the dry but we do experience sub freezing weather here in the winter. Thanks

Ready to pull the trigger on these as well. Generally (ironic), it seems to have a good review for a all around use tire.

If you do please post up here or email me about them. I have some time as my Dunlops still have a little life in them...not much but enough to let me shop around. By the way, what are you putting them on?
thanks

I got a set of Gmax AS03s for my wrx and they run like a dream. I didn't want to pay the price for winter tires, and was glad to see a reasonable set of all seasons online with good reviews. I was replacing the stock potenzas and the difference is more than noticeable. I live in New England, and we've been getting hit with rain from the tropical storms. I've taken turns in fresh rain full torque (stage 2 wrx) without slipping. Also, I've hydroplaned one time in my old car, so i was really paranoid about my next set of tires, which is the reason for why i bought the Generals. the tread pattern is very deep and aggressive. I've gone full speed through flash floods and they do feel like they are cutting through the water. No loss in traction. Of course, no tire is invulnerable from the rain, but these are great for the money. Also, so far 10k on my set, and they still look like new on the inner and outer treads. i just did my brakes last week and had them off the car and was surprised to see how well they were holding up. If any of you guys end up with this tire, i hope you get the same experience. Just seems too good to be true.

PS: It was a light winter here in NE, but i had a chance to try them out in the snow for those of you who plan on getting these up north. I had to put a lot more effort forcing my rear out, so they seem to have close to winter tire performance at least when they are brand new.

Finally, I just pulled the trigger on these as tirerack dropped their price on a close out. They also gave me the opportunity online to pre-order for July 1st when General starts a promotion for $ 50 visa card too

I just ordered a set for my Saabaru in stock size (205/55/16). They look like a winner!

How often is often?

I'm buying these tires for my bug in 225/45/17 and I want them to last. I don't care about noise, that's what my BPM turboback is for.

I've had these 225/45/17s for about a year. Yes, rotate often. I got noise after about 12k. That said I feel confident whatever I encounter. They have really good wet traction. The best AS tire I've had ever.

That is what I was originally going to get but I keep reading how soft the sidewalls are and how bad it makes the handling. I read a thread on here which I cannot seem to find again and someone said they talked to the Continental rep at some show and he said the General G-Max AS-03 was made for the people who wanted a more performance oriented tire using the same compound as the DWS.

EDIT: Found the thread http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/show...0&postcount=49
