I realized that while I've often come on these boards for help and for buying/selling parts, I've never really posted what I was doing with my car.

The interior has been getting a bit of an overhaul, since i wanted to make sure all the wiring was ok. I got a v3 sti RA motor swapped in 2005 and I've always disliked the wiring job, so I took a look for myself. It was a mess.
![]() I had barewires everywhere, and pinouts on the ECU that weren't connected, such as the check engine light, and O2 sensor indicator wire. I removed a bunch of wiring I no longer needed, such as the ABS wiring (have yet to remove the actual ABS unit though), A/T shift lock, auto transmission wiring, and cruise control wiring. Here's what I removed: ![]() 3 pounds 11 ounces worth of wires. ![]() I also rewired the v4 Cluster to make the DCCD indicator work with the v3 DCCD computer. ![]() I'll take more pics of the interior later. I put back in all the dash stuff. I have some 22B front seats I'm going to install, but i want to wait until the car is painted because I don't want to risk damaging them. Here's a pic of one of the seats. It had a tear in the seat and I had to get part of it reupholstered. ![]() Last edited by bicanek; 02-01-2008 at 12:43 PM. |

I'm not much of a fan of fiberglass and did not want to get a fiberglass widebody. I mean the car to be driven...somewhat roughly at times, and don't want major unremoval body panels to crack from gravel etc. I decided to pony up and get a metal widebody kit made. The guy that is doing it has done a lot of work for JIC. He does quality work, but it has been very frustrating. His vision and my own don't seem to match. I told him "22B!" and "WRC", but the results have been far from the smooth, rounded contours of the WRC look I've been going for. Instead, I have gotten agressive sharp lines, like these:
![]() ![]() Unlike some, who have pulled out stock bumpers to meet with Do-Luck fenders, i have pushed in my widebody bumper to meet the bottom of my fenders, which don't come out as far as the top of the fenders...ugly eh? Here's more of what I had in mind for the front (photoshopped): ![]() In my frustration, I procured some WRC panels on loan from England and am just going to say "here! copy this!" Shouldn't be too hard, right? They arrived on tuesday, and the car is being dropped off today. Unfortunately, I got shipped off to New Mexico for work until the 8th, so I'm going to have to rely on my dad to relay what I want correctly.Last edited by bicanek; 02-01-2008 at 01:01 PM. |

I'm thinking rally blue pearl. I really wanted to get a gun metal gray...but with all the 22B and WRC parts, it would be almost blasphemous not to go RBP.

I'm not trying to bite on your thread, but the mention of color (and that car is frikkin HOT BTW) just as an axample of a color that is close, but different
Mine is an "Infinity" blue from a G20 from a few years ago... close but much different than RBP... ![]() |

Sweet Jesus this is going to awesome!
![]() Sticky? (and not just my underpants!) Edit: It's even a 98 (the proper year) I forget the exact colour, but the WR cars and 22-B were not WRB or even 555 Rally blue pearl, IIRC they were a unique colour. I vote for Rally blue w/ accompanying graphics or pure white (always something hot about WR test cars bathed in all white) |

Not biting my thread at all. Thanks for the contribution. That's a nice color. The blue color is growing on me in general. For some reason rally blue pearl makes me hungry...I think it might be some sort of subconscious association with cotton candy.

Haa..no way I'm getting rid of those seats though. I've been offered 2 grand for them, but I just can't do it. I'll never get the chance to import another set. Most of those seats remain on the 22B's to ensure their collector status. The guy I got all my 22B stuff in Japan was a guy I used to drive with when I lived there (we both had s13's back then). He decided to get a 22B and race it, removing a lot of the stock parts. He pulled out the door panels (which I also have), sold me the trunk lid w/ spoiler (since he's running a CF trunk with some sort of GT wing), seats, and wheels. I had to give up the seats to one of my suppliers in Japan. In return I got the genuine WRC bumper and prototype 1998 WRC hood, so I don't think I came out of the deal too badly. Anyway, that's that story... |

I think you're correct. I really need to figure out the color. I guess I can color match the trunk-lid, but who knows how much that may have faded. The bumper has been painted Prodrive blue to match the previous owner's car. Maybe I can flake it off and get to the original WRC paint.

I really hope you paint your hood to match the rest of the car. Raw carbon fiber looks horrible.

Haha. I am. I'm not too much of a CF fan, and I think it would look out of place. I'm going for a more WRC look. The only CF you ever see on those is all in the engine bay.

Very possibly. Does anyone know what paint code that is? I guess I should do a search before I ask.

THANKS! I appreciate it. Anyone have any recommendations for type of paint?
From a parts network that I am a part of in Japan. We sell used parts on consignment, strip cars in Japan and sell off the parts in Japan as well as here. I bring parts in from Japan as a side business, under Bakemono Imports on RS25, but since i don't pay for a vendor account on NASIOC, I want to keep away from advertising myself on here. |
