hey guys, i recently crashed my wrx wagon and have about 6000$ in damage. right now i have the opportunity to convert to the sedan fenders. the shop said the only differences between my wagon and a sedans front end would be the bumper cover, then fenders, and the wheel well shields. has anyone else converted their front ends from wagon to sedan? are there any parts that ive missed? and also... its going to cost me about 500$ extra out of my own pocket to do this compared to just using the normal wagon parts. so im just looking for some opinions as well about this being worth it.
thanks

Thats all you need for looks.. For the mechanical aspect, you need new control arms, swaybar, and endlinks...
If you only have money for the mechanical OR the looks, I HIGHLY suggest you do the mechanical conversion... Otherwise the wheels just look too tucked in with the sedan fenders... Plus, widening the front track gave large improvements in handling... |

sedan arms cost about $100 used, a sway bar would be about $150 new or $100 used, and endlinks cost about $80...
So figure about $300 gets you the mechanical conversion and much better handling! |

Why did Subaru make the wagon narrower anyhow?

The only thing I don't like is that now the front is wider looking and the back is not. Unless you reskin the back end too. If it is what you like then go for it!

^^ Because of this. I couldnt have said it any better. Think about it...right now, the STI WRX and STI hatch are the most popular model. They look much better then the sedan IMO. Plus you get more utility from a wagon.

![]() Though I do agree that wagons, if done right can look better than sedans. Last edited by davidmullis; 10-14-2012 at 09:13 AM. |
